Ok first off this is not a WTS post, please DO NOT contact me.
I aquired this rifle in a bit of horse trading, didn't practice due diligence and lo and behold a peek down the barrel (at home) revealed a dark ring about halfway down
Stripping the barrel revealed not just a bulge but a bulge with a crack in it
Of course this was hidden under the stock thus helping me overlook it.
I can't really give it back (caveat emptor) so my questions are:
1. Is it worth trying to find a replacement barrel? Has anyone here had to replace a barrel on their 66?
2. If option #1 is cost prohibitive is there a market for parting out the gun?
3. Would it be ethical to sell such an unsafe gun "as is, where is", of course being upfront about all issues.
More than a bit pissed at myself, I would welcome any helpful suggestions (please no sage advice such as using it for a boat anchor
