I know I can get replacement o-rings from Rem or a parts supplier but I have been reading that one can find these at a regular hardware supplier like Fastenal.

Has anyone used these and if so how do they work and what was the exact size and type ?

Thanks

Yes they are fine just make sure they are viton. Assuming `12ga ??
I have the size somewhere

Viton # 021 size measures 15/16 id X 11/16 od X 1/16 w.

Yes, #021 viton o-ring is what you need. I bought some a few years ago from a supplier in the US. I think they were something like 18 cents a piece. Don't remember the name. Anyhow, they work fine. Far, far cheaper than getting them from Remington.

Are they the same as the 11-87? My brother is/was (not sure) in an o-ring jam with his 11-87. I remember that he ordered from Brownells and got clobbered with the shipping. Not sure if he sent them back or not.

Same as far as I remember but I only have one 1187 so someone else can confirm
Cheers

In case you don't want to go through great lengths sourcing them I have Viton rings for 1100/11-87 for cheap, just send me a pm for more info.

There is an o-ring superior to Viton in all respects. It's called VQM SIL I've been told you will never need to replace. Very spendy though!

Where can we source these o-rings in Canada?

I needed a bunch of orings, got quotes from a few Canadian Suppliers, they were almost 10x the price of ones from the USA. I like to buy Canadian if I can, but for 1/10th the price it's hard to say no. Ebay was where I got mine too.
