Are any of you hunting with an original, unmolested Oberndorf Mauser? An Oberndorf Mauser is one of the few material things I lust after and have always wanted to own one, but the stars have never aligned. I passed on a 9x57 Type S because it was not original and have kicked myself ever since.


So post your commercial Mausers along with glorious stories from the hunt....
 
Sadly I've owned a few over the years and sold or traded them at moments of weakness ...been kicking myself ever since.

Apologies on reviving an old thread, but I too have been looking for an original Oberndorf Mauser for about 4 years now. Recently missed a model B in 3006 by about 4 minutes.!!!
 
Crates of 1935 and 1908 Mausers were available years ago. These were surplus high quality firearms usually supplied with matching bayonet, sling, muzzle cover and test target. The prices varied, but for what these guns were...very reasonable. Many, many of these guns were made into custom hunting rifles. not an inexpensive thing to do depending on what you wanted built and with what components. And yet....you don't see many of these custom pieces showing up for sale these days as well.

I bought a 1935 for $200 and had it made into a 280AI 30degree. I still have the target, sling and muzzle cover around somewhere. Also have an unmolested 1908.
 
I have an 8mm Oberndorf sporting rifle made in the mid-20s. It has seen better days, but still shoots quite well.

Not a oberndorfer sporter but this post war serbian sporter has most of the features of one with double set triggers,hinge floor plate with lever release,two leaf rear sight and butter knife bolt handle

I love the really pretty Mauser crests they have on the front action ring with the metal checkering around the logo!
Anyone have a single square bridge Mauser?
