I watched the video a bunch of times and there’s no mention of barrel length or a bolt release, did they cut that out? Thanks.
3:05 confirms short barrel and bolt release and price. All the ticks.
Good job O'Dell.
No mention, just visuals - there's two rifles in that video (one short, one long, count the MLOK) and the bolt release is shown briefly (but not used).I watched the video a bunch of times and there’s no mention of barrel length or a bolt release, did they cut that out?
The video I posted has both of those informations. It will have a last round bolt hold open and a bolt release button, and as for barrel lengths they will be coming in 12” and 16” initially.I watched the video a bunch of times and there’s no mention of barrel length or a bolt release, did they cut that out?
Ya it does look good, from what I can tell I think the manufacturer is Derya and that they’re collaborating with O’Dell Engineering on the design, features and overall quality of the rifle, if you compare the C22 to Derya’s TM22 rifle you’ll see some hints of the TM22 in the C22, that’s just my opinion though! I know the full metal Derya TM22 has been very popular and pretty reliable from the reviews so I have nothing against Derya. No mention, just visuals - there's two rifles in that video (one short, one long, count the MLOK) and the bolt release is shown briefly (but not used).
The latest video posted (just above) is more indepth and Phil explains all the options and bolt release. Looking really good, very pleased for O'Dell.
Fair enough. I mean I know it’s usually some degree of risk in regards to QC when you buy a Turkish gun, but I liked the look and feel of it enough to take a chance on it. Cleaned it and gave it a bit of oil before the first range trip. Receiver/bolt pin was super loose off the bat, like touch it and it pops out. Used 597 mags which weren’t so bad after breaking in the springs a bit. Fed it CCi tactical semi autos and some hollow point winchesters. 300 or so rounds in total, probably like 30 stoppages. Both were keyholing at 25m. Probably just got unlucky with a poor QC rifle, but not thrilled about it since shipping it off to warranty isn’t free. This statement would be far more useful if it made sense and had some details. You bought a RF224 and had problems? What were they? What ammo did you use? What mags? How many rounds did you fire?
I recently did my first range trip. Initially had problems with rounds being picked up from the mag into the chamber. seemed to get better with lube and the number of rounds fired. Was reasonably happy by the end of the session.
Those look like AR take down pins. Is that how it comes apart?
And that there is the most important question!
Take down on the previous semi autos had me avoid them like the plague. Even the 10/22 is a PIA.
Some people criticize the construction of TM-22, but they are an ingenious design in my book. Easy to disassemble and top cleaning, that alone is a super-premium feature in something like a 10/22 build. Not only that, every single TM-22 is essentially a takedown, if you're not super concerned about accuracy. If the C-22 can also break down that easily (or easier), and better still if it can do it without fear of stripping thin screw holes, and maintain accuracy, then it will be a huge deal.I'm pretty fussy and I don't mind the take down for the Derya TM-22 at all, though I'd obviously prefer a hinged AR style takedown. I only put red dots on my TM-22s so removing the rail doesn't require any extra steps since the optic is not in the way. However, I can see why one would be frustrated with the takedown if they were using anything other than a red dot.
I appreciate the positive attitude, and I’m not saying the gun is hopeless or terrible. Mine obviously had a few QC issues that will hopefully get resolved through warranty, but I still think I’m more interested in the C22 now due to aesthetic, 25 round mags that will hopefully be decent out of the box, and more barrel length options. I wasn’t super bothered by the feeding issues, I knew that came with the territory of 597 mags. Factory mag fed solidly. I was more bothered by the keyholing from both types of ammo I tried, and the bolt pin coming out every few shots. I had some fun with it, but will probably just sell the warrantied rifle and hope it works better for whoever buys itPoor feeding with 597 mags is a known issue with the RF224. Did you try different mags? Did you try different ammo? These rifles seem to take some considerable running in and like a lot of lube.
Whenever I go to the range with 22s I always take several different brands of ammo and multiple mags.
A lot of semi 22s seem to have issues. You should persevere and try some different things before giving up.
There is a good video here on stripping and reassmbly
The TM22's LRBHO snapping shut upon mag removal really limits its usefulness. If the C22 does LRBHO, and then you can manually actuate the bolt hold, remove the magazine, keeping the bolt open, then its going to be magnificent!I mean personally regardless of all the other 22lr options. I like the fact there is a last round bolt hold open.
Very few new 22lr's actually have that feature, since they tend to reuse 10/22 magazines which can't do LRBHO. The winchester wildcat has a 10 round magazine with a LRBHO but relies on Ruger 10/22 magazines for larger capacity.
