Well as the long winter finally comes to a much desired end and the long hot summer looms ahead, my thoughts always seem to turn to ways of keeping myself amused during the dog days of summer,in the past a time spent waiting for september and those first chilly nights that heed the oncoming of every hunters favorite time of year...Fall! but thankfully we do have some options open to the avid hunter such as varmint hunting and to those blessed with a sensible DNR,bowfishing.The varmint rifle becomes yet another toy to tweak and customize keeping us amused for hours on end drooling over high priced target/varmint scopes and new calibers and bullets designed to shoot a flys wings off at 300 paces.Varmint hunting also gives us a good chance to befriend local farmers and landowners as we rid their property of pests,all the while scouting for big game and watching big bucks clad in velvet plow through fresh clover across the field.......So,what keeps you amused during the summer?
