***OFFICIAL*** FAMAE SG 542 SEMI-AUTO .308 is NON-RESTRICTED **ACCEPTING PRE-ORDERS**

In the mid 80's I couldn't afford my dream guns H&K 91/FAL, now at age 48 i'm in the same boat unless
I tap into my line of credit. I deeply regret never having bought one of these weapons and this new offering
could well be my last chance while at the same time my car has 394,000 KM on it.

While at the same time I wonder how much money I'd have to dump into a M305 to get it too the
same level. Growing up in Southern Africa nobody could afford weapons like this, all the farmers
had very basic weapons which the exception of relatives in Rhodesia who were issued FAL's
due to them being in active reserve forces.

Then again my brother spent $4000 on a bicycle and I'm sure if you wanted a quality set of
golf clubs you would be in the $1000's, so maybe i'm out to lunch.

Yes I remember when surplus FAL and G3 rifles could be bought for around $400 or less and I remember thinking that was too much money at the time. Within a few years I was not allowed to buy one thanks to the ######s in ottawa. This will likely be as close as I'll ever get to owning one of those rifles and dam it I'm buying one while I can! I sold my swissarms a few years ago to buy the SPAR and that doesn't look like it will ever get here, the SG542 is close enough. Like they used to say in the old TV adds "charge it", the visa has been deployed.

Yes, it is true there is another exclusive importer. We contacted FAMAE in July 2011 with intentions to import the SG 542. We announced our intentions to import this rifle in August 2011 on CGN.

Several months later another company saw what we were doing and decided to hop on the bandwagon before we were able to secure exclusivity. Once it was secured, it was for both companies.

So consumers will have a choice between rifles imported from ERE and TI.

Tactical Imports has a reputation for working hard to bring in new and interesting firearms. We started this company as a bunch of enthusiasts looking to bring in new things that were unavailable to sport shooters. Over the years we worked hard to build a good reputation within the community, doing everything we can to ensure all of our buyers are happy buyers. Most of our business is from repeat customers. The continued support of our company allows us to bring new things in the future.

Nobody knows anything about ERE. Is this a company looking to make a quick buck and go back to where they came from? Is this a company that takes care of its customers and any warranty work? Do profits from supporting ERE go to fund shareholders/owners pockets or to new and interesting projects?

The choice is up to you.

This, right here, is why I've always had great dealings with TI.

Thumbs up all the way.

Funny enough I posted earlier this morning in the Black Rifle section in the SG542 thread if anyone knew ANYTHING about the ERE Systems company. Looks like I was pretty much bang on..

Post like yours convinced me to by a few dream rifles, but in truth the real problem is we lost the battle in those days making this stuff difficult or impossible to own and because of those lost battles we pay way more for the rifles of today than they are truly worth. Truth is the generations before mine really screwed it all up....

So guys like us have to do all we can so our kids or grand kids can still enjoy this sport! Buy the gun you want now, tomorow they could pipe dreams.

I would suggest that in case of a Swiss Arms prohibition that you please view the following parts interchangeability from the Swiss Arms "Classic" platform to the 540 for current Swiss Arms owners;
  • Lower receiver
  • barrels
  • gas systems
  • furniture
  • mags
  • BCG and bolt
  • aftermarket parts from third party companies
  • anything else I've overlooked due to unfamiliarity of the platform
That should help folks salvage what they can from their property should it become prohibited.

The upper and BCG is different for sure. One of the design improvements from the 540 to the 550 was a change from a roller guide top mounted BCG to the more conventional one found in the 550. If memory serves me, the gas piston is different as well.

Will your rifles have your company name engraved on them or will it be stock marked and "un-branded" as manufactured?

This is a touching post, I really hope you will be able to get one and enjoy it plenty! There is just something about shhoing a semi auto 308. I really hope to also be able to afford one in the near future; I really enjoy my rfb, its my go to hunting rifle, this would not replace it but dam its fine looking.

Time to put the family back on starvation rations of eating Kraft macaroni for another nine months.

I am sure it might boomerang on me one day.
"Don't talk to me about your rickets and scurvy growing up there junior.
Remember, it was your little sister we decided to eat, since you could already pick cucumbers.
Besides, look at this magnificent rifle."

Or,,, maybe just time to empty the safe of all the milsurps I never fondle anymore.

Tactical Imports will get my $$$ so long as they keep bringing in the good stuff, and keep up the reputation for customer support.

TI is refreshing. It's not your grandpas gun store.
