***OFFICIAL*** FAMAE SG 542 SEMI-AUTO .308 is NON-RESTRICTED **ACCEPTING PRE-ORDERS**

Very nice. Wonder how they shoot? I think I will wait to read some hands on before I drop the $$$$ but this is pretty tempting.

As an aside, why do there always need to be these people who thread crap on the cost of almost every new product announced? I get that this isn't cheap and may not be affordable for everyone but is it really necessary to whine about it? I can't think of any other hobby I'm involved in where people complain so much about what they can't afford. If this doesn't fit your budget buy an SKS and a case of ammo for $300 and go have some fun. Shooting has something for every budget. Or maybe get a better job and buy what you want. As for what it's "worth" or margins, get together your own capital, start your own company, import guns and sell them cheap so we can all benefit from your generosity.

Rail is optional. There are more details on the TI website.

My concern is will the accessories be expensive. A rail for the SAF is $200! and $65 a mag.

then buy norinco... complaining about price on the dealers site is pretty classless.

Hey I'm just Happy TI is committed to bringing in some fantastic firearms at better prices than there competition is...

^^^well said. Doubt the Bentley or Ferrari dealer would give 2 ****s if someone posted the same type of complaining on their websites, don't understand why people feel it's appropriate to do it to a firearms dealer.

?? Who crapped in your cornflakes?

Trolling is Classless and against CGN rules.

You have nothing to say on the 542 or TI except attack me .....= Troll.

A concern is not complaining.

I have every right to be concerned what accessories will cost if I pay $3000 for a rifle. Will I have to pay $200 for a rail and $65 for a mag? It all adds up. This is not a Swiss made Rifle.

I have no hesitation as to the value of the Rifle or the excellent work and Effort TI has put in the last couple years bringing these unique firearms.

I could easily be incorrect, but it seems to me that any decent quality accessories aren't cheap, if they've been made for an SKS or a Swiss Arms.
I don't mean any personal attack on you. It just seems to be common on CGN to complain about high prices and gets a bit old.
And +1 on "this isn't a swiss made rifle," I am curious to see the quality of these. Under license from Sig I'm hoping means that they're high end, but am a little hesitant to drop nearly $3gs sight unseen. But then again, been waiting for this so long...

Yes I remember when surplus FAL and G3 rifles could be bought for around $400 or less and I remember thinking that was too much money at the time. .

This is not how I remember things in 1985, Carls Gun Shop on Yonge St always carried a selection of H&K 91/93, Valmet AK47, FN FAL, G3's, Colt Ar15's..... and they always were expensive, same league as BMW and Audi, out of reach of most 18 year olds. To prove my point I shot at Cold Creek Conservation area for years and the only guys at the range who owned these guns were guys in there 40's. Sure, Lee Enfield's were $99 and 303 ammo cost the
same as current 7.62 x 39 except nobody sold them in crates. Trust me on this, when I turned Sixteen I bought a Lee Enfield. I might still buy 542, my plan was to pay cash for a new car but if I have to dip into my line of credit no big deal. Plus the vendor is close enough to were I live that I can drive to his location and give him my deposit without having to use the Internet. There always was a Premium to pay to join
the Black Rifle club unless you jumped in bed with the Chinese.

Tactical Imports, if I make charitable blood donations, can I have a SG542?

Oh man, oh man. If I only hadn't bought this other rifle...

One of these is on the menu soon.

I know this feeling much too well. I can't bring myself to trim the herd to free up cash for this, though. Soon enough I'll have enough cash and this will be on top of my list, I want this thing so damn much!

these are not swiss made rifles, they are however not american made either where many products are quickly whipped up for the retail market. They are made specifically for military contracts and made to last. They are not massed produced in a hurry to fill commercial demands, consequently quality is a lot better than most would expect for something coming out of south america. Famae takes a lot of pride in what they make, and work hard to make quality products. These are maybe 5% lesser quality than a Swiss made rifle, the quality of materials is excellent. expect tooling marks etc. these are not made to look nice they are made to work well, and work well they do.

Not too sure about them being 5% lesser quality. Of the three I have played with, 2 had crooked front sight assemblies and all had sharp interior edges inside the receivers. I would say although they may shoot respectively, they are not close to SAN rifles fit and finish wise.
