thanks Zupermann, I would like TI to make it official, that's the only thing I want to know before putting a deposit on the rifle.
 
nice bit of digging, I wondered why they are so silent about the progress of this order, and now "late winter" with no explanation, makes sense that there isn't a number yet. The other company that is importing these has been saying that since day one.......
 
from my looking about seriously wonder if Famae as the ability to chrome line barrels, the Chilean issue rifles aren't so that would lead one to think maybe they don't have the in house capability to chrome line.

TI are the barrels being done in house or is Famae out sourcing?
 
Janes Infantry Weapons 2011-2012: Rifles: Chilie: FAMAE SG542: States "Chrome lined chamber"... So I would naturaly assume that if FAMAE makes 'em that way for their domestic sales, then the tooling and technique is there for chrome lined chambers on the the export production. However I too would like clarifiaction from TI about it.
 
The rifle we received had a chrome lined barrel, don't see why things would change for production. Most military rifles have chrome lined barrels or some sort of corrosion treatment.
 
Nice Rifle, Yikes about the price, for that price point, I would buy a Tavor instead. Proprietary magazine..not good.
