The greys and blacks are invasive species (like the bunny rabbits...) here in the Lower Mainland and can be killed without a hunting licence BUT with zero firearms discharge bylaws it might be very challenging.
The eastern squirrels are larger than the western ones.
But the tiny reds are so cute and curious. They always want to get in my pack![]()
In Ontario, red squirrels are protected as furbearers and cannot be hunted, they can only be taken under a licence to trap. They huntable species are grey squirrels (both grey and black colour phases) and fox squirrels.
