just finished tonights dinner and it was awesome. sliced wood duck breast and muskrat coated in cajun fish crisp then pan fried. i knew that the duck was gonna be good but the muskrat was a huge shocker. definatly better than squirell or rabbit and so tender.

lol the best part is the muskrat was roadkill that my buddy hit:D

is it legal to hunt muskrat in ontario? i know you can trap them but i dont ever recall seeing anything about hunting them in the regs.

Can't be sure without checking the regs but I think that muskrats are classified as furbearers and as such can't be hunted.

I am guessing you ate roadkill rodent because....

See his post on getting money together for a mortgage. He's just being frugal. ;)

(BTW: For the non-picky meat eater, The SPCA likely has various fresh carcasses regularly available). :D:D

get a ####ing life dip####

my buddy hit it and his uncle likes to use the pelts to make stuff so he stopped to pick it up and he only damaged the front half and he doesnt waste so he took the rear legs and gave em to me.

its funny how im a redneck because i ate roadkill muskrat but ill bet most of you would eat a deer that you hit. difference? NONE. both are edible and tastey animals so why waste the meat if you're already picking it up for the pelt?

Muskrat is very good eating. :D Better than snowshoe hare by a long shot.

Beaver - the type with the big webbed feet ;) - also makes very good burger.

I ate a lot of both when I was running the trapline many years ago.
