My VZ58 with all its bells and whistles is now a nice display piece for the time being. Never was a fun of AR and 223.
7.62 is my fav.

To be honest, VZ8/CZ858 is not a very perfect platform. There were so many good options recently, but 8 years ago when I've bought it - it was a way to go for the caliber. My lifestyle is target shooting on the range, tactical semi-auto type of things, occasional bush fun, hikes and camping trips in a bear/cougar area. Hence cheap and relatively powerful 7.62x39 was a good balance for all that and VZ with red dot and folding stock was serving me well. I don't hunt at all.

While I signed every petition, wrote MP's, donated, spread the word etc etc etc, this OIC gives me an opportunity to get something new now.

Like I said, I'm not fun of 223. Moreover, I do consider more powerful ammo then x39. Don't like bolts and all that push-pull thingies. Fortunately there are still some semi's left unaffected, till the next issue of OIC of course.

Money is not an issue. Budget is up to 5K, possibly more considering a good scope/reddot, and some other extras. Want something really cool.

Tavor 7 308 was on my radar even before May 1. NR bull pup is good for camping wilderness, my range is only 100 yards anyways, so MOA is not an issue. What else options?

If you can gloss over the shady history, the M10X might be a decent option to scratch that semi-auto 7.62x39 itch. At the $5k mark you might be able to find a Valmet as well. Can't speak for the Tavor 7 but I adore my .223, it's a very pleasant rifle to shoulder and be "tacticool" with. I know people like to harp on the ergonomics but I find them more comfortable than an AR... your mileage may vary.

Since May 1, we have been denied the use of legally acquired property by this minority government with about 25% of eligible voters.

This is an unjustified punitive action against an innocent group and will require reparations and payment of actual damages including punitive damages.

Figure out your time and expenses incurred in order to comply with an unjustified edict that does not play any role in crime prevention.

Pain and suffering, mental anguish, fear of search and seizure, additional unnecessary expenses, victimization and criminalization by government decree.

A class action should be in order for damages.

Perhaps someone skilled in such matters will enable such a process at the appropriate time.

The Canadian Government has a history of inappropriate actions against identifiable groups.

there are a lot still available, but the questions is are they still available, I had my eye on two during the ban week (was waiting to pull the trigger until I knew what was getting banned and the stag 10 was) and a few site were sold out when I finally went to purchase the other on the 2nd.

Tavor 7 is a great rifle, bought it blind ( took a chance because it's a 308 ) to make sure to avoid the ban and C71 implementation.

This was a great move. This bullpup rock. YMMV.

Yeah, M10X will be pretty much a direct replacement for a lookalike VZ. I like folding stock, guessing it can be fired folded same as VZ. Red dot from VZ will fit well, stash of x39 ammo will have a good use once again.

It indeed takes my time and expenses to comply with this OIC, like slarsen47 is suggesting.

Considering only 7.62x39, Nothing left in Canada will compare to the VZ58 platform in terms of performance and ergos.

Maybe hold out for a Wolverine Supplys 180 in 7.62x39?

There is plenty of superior options left if you decide to switch over to the NATO side of the force muhaha

How about the Type 81? There are a few of them on the EE. Prices approach $1600 but you have a budget ready.

There's a .308 Valmet Hunter for 4k on the exchange. I'd spend the difference on tacticooling it and trying to find $500 mags. I'd say this along with the M78 are the safest semi rifles from future bans with their history. For 7k and tax there's the G36 NR option (.223) and The ATRS Modern Hunter .308 can be had for that budget and would be my top pick.

Did a research on M10x. Like the idea. But full stop. Lots of issues and bad reviews.

Norinco, SKS - too cheap for the ego.

Valmet - thank you for the heads up. Interesting. EE option only - not sure. Some people are selling the problematic guns. Wishing to be the first owner unboxing. Spare parts?

RFB - non-military. Many non-military guns have low engineering budget, hence issues. M10x rings the bell. If it comes to bullpup - will trust Tavor more.

So?

Anything tacticool and greater than 223? Is Tavor 7 winning? I'm a few mouse clicks away. What would you buy if budget is unlimited and wify and doughtier are itching to try a new cool gun no matter what? My range is about to open soon. Please help!!!
