OK...so who else is getting their 2016 gopher gun set-up?

The Dyna-points are kinda mediocre, as are the X-perts. The Power Points are what you want to try. I think they used to weigh 42gr but somewhere along the way they became 40gr. Regardless they are accurate and hit hard!

Power Points compared to CCI Mini-Mags. Sorry for the enormous pics:

Lesson learned~thanks! Darn...now that's another ammo I have to find to try out! :)

Glad to hear I helped you spend some money!!!.I'm off to the range on Sunday with another nutter with a 452 varmint and sightron combo.Where going to swap some ammo and work on groups and hopefully find something the CZ's like.Have you done anything to your trigger yet? PM me if you need any help with it.

Thanks for the offer sc~I may very well take you up on that offer. No, haven't done anything with it...haven't even shot the rifle yet. I remember getting used to the heavy-ish trigger on my previous 452Varmint (17HMR) but we'll see how this one is. I trust you did you own modification...or was it an aftermarket kit you installed?

Those Dyna points could be modded with a Waltz die. Just lucked into two 500 rnd White boxes at a local Wally for $ 26.56. They seem o shoot quite well out of the CZ's.

Thanks for the heads-up!

CZ455 Varmint with Laminated TH Stock. Burris 4.5-14 x 42 AO.
While previous CZ452 seemed to prefer CCI MM solids, currently the HP's appear more consistent but there is always variations lot to lot.

CZ455 American with a Sightron 4-12 AO and the HHT reticle. Trying a Burris 6 - 18 currently but will probably go back to the Sightron.
Since I have some CenterX and Eley Match, testing shows the occasional 1" group at 100 yards.
Variations in temperature, humidity and Barometric pressure will give changes in accuracy but judging wind is probably the biggest factor.

Nice guns Horseman. I would love a thumbhole stock but unfortunately I'm right handed but shoot off my left shoulder so I can only use ambi set ups.

Out here , especially in spring , I can get about 150 a day , so my go to gun is a semi with good size magazine . Tried a few and when we have a target rich environment , I always break out my 10/22 . I've got it set up so it's perfect for our spring environment . This year , the little guys were like a plague , and with cattle that means I'll go through a brick of .22 ammo every three days . Shoot an area for a couple of hours , go have lunch and come back later and you'd think we hadn't even been there earlier , they were that thick this year .
By now , those that have survived are harder to kill , they pop up and by the time you've got them ranged , they go back underground , Wiley little beggars . This is the time of year when something more accurate is helpful . I just use my Cooey 60 .
I bought a 17 hmr Henry last year but find its unnecessary . The Ruger is my every day gopher gun , and .22 is less expensive .

I had too many 22lr rifles, so I traded my Cooper LVT on a Cooper LVT in 17HMR. My Cooper in 17mach 2 is my favorite for ground squirrels, but if I keep using a few thousand rounds each year, my supply of Eley loads will run out in four or five years. If I share the job with the 17HMR, I can extend that considerably. My 20 Vartarg and 20 Tactical will still take care of my 200 + yard sniping.

Update: No time to shoot it yet...and this is a crappy indoor pic...but here she is so far! :) Had it in the vise all weekend just to admire it. lol

Yea gopher duty; 12 hr days & 3500 Mini-mag shot in 3 1/2 days. My partner did about the same. So many gophers it is hard on ammo supply. (that's why I have it) Used a Rem 541 S and custom 10-22. last year had the Rem yellowjacket HB & Rem as a pair. A 22 hornet is always along too.

Nice. :) That's the sort of shooting I'm hoping for...only a minimum of 5 days. The CZ here is shaping up nicely, ammo testing starts in a week or so. No luck finding Winchester Power Point locally though. Not yet anyway.

Not a rimfire, I know, but a great companion for my .22s... Good for CQG (Close Quarter Gophers) when they pop up too close to put a scope on them easily. The big change with my .410 for next year is moving from commercial ammo to my custom reloadable brass:

It's dialed in, and I am now a .17hmr fan, 17gr all under 1" at 100, 20gr were closer to 1/2 inch....I feel bad for the critters

I've used a stainless 10/22, absolute stock except for that stupid bolt release, since about 1997. Last two years I used a RIA clone, just to see how it would do. I put a used old Burson scope. It has worked flawlessly. I also tried out my American 455 .17HMR. Liked it a lot, so I scooped a Canadian 455 in 17. I also tried out my 455 American in .22 mag. Boy, does that .22 mag ever wallop! G: Still have a 455 American in .22lr that I haven't fired.

When all else fails, I have used a 12ga just to break up the drudgery... About three years back, I found a nice patch in Manitoba. Shot in the same little field for four days! I parked my trailer at the edge of the field. One morning, I loaded up 43 12 ga, walked maybe 50 yds, shot the whole works off just turning in a circle! Gotta love that! :p
