Okay........Now with Pics of Loading Bench and Gun Vault

Well I tried the trick I was told about with the reamer..........didn't work. After I went to the trouble to set the barrel all up in the four jaw and get 'er running dead true. Back on hold again, until I get it sharpened I guess..........

Johnn, I took some photos of the set up and how running in the reamer works............

In this photo I'm setting the barrel up in a 4 jaw chuck. I'm putting in shims of sheet metal to prevent the chuck jaws from marking the barrel.

Once I get the shims in and the barrel more or less in the center, I set up the dial gauge on the bottom of the existing chamber and adjust the jaws until it is running absolutely dead true.

Once the old chamber is running dead true, I set up the lathe for 90 RPM and run the reamer in using the tail stock. The tailstock is all calibrated as well so one can track the depth.

:)Thanks guy, much appreciated. Kinda' makes me feel like I'm still,;) pre retirement, running the shop in the mill.
Oh, on an unrelated note, sent you a PM earlier.

Sure but bring your own tags..........

LOL.
Nice invitation. I just happen to be in the Kootneys right now but not headed over Grey Creek Pass this year. Headed toward the coast today but not your way this year, I'll stick to #3. Not much time hunting out here this year and very little more fishing. Instead I spent an enjoyable afternoon in the Invermere hospital to find out my left foot isn't broken. Now on medication that is making me feel not quite up to par so heading home early. At least I'm able to walk reasonably well again.

Douglas, I'll return the offer. If you get out to the coast and to the island, you are invited to come by and visit. I could amaze you with my gun collection, all six of them, and my 6 square feet of reloading bench. Could probably get you over to see Johnn too. He's not to far from me but I haven't seen him in far too long.
Johnn? What's a good morning for coffee?

Just came back from an unsuccessful week moose hunting, and haven't had time to read all the posts. How is the 22-284 comming along? I've been testing h1000 in my 6.5 284 and so far am finding better vertical with 205m primers. Shot my Chrony... again, so no es/sd data. Gonna have to order up a mylabradar or magnetospeed ASAP.

Perhaps we could meet at Timmies in Duncan across from the Forest Museum but I'll have to get back to you as to when. I have some pre cataract surgery appointments that have to be arranged and confirmed first.

Greg..........I really appreciate the invite and it just might happen, as I have several gunnut buddies on the island and Ted's (Why not?) children also live there as well as an old time buddy and employee of mine.......many reasons to visit the island somewhere along the way...........just not sure when it works though.................

Any chance of picking me up on your way to Douglas's ?
I have only seen a few of the pictures and I am simply overwhelmed.
I am at a loss for words.

Not sure as to when I'll get the chance to go and I'll also have to contact Douglas to make sure dates and times work for all concerned. Sure, I'll give you a shout when that opportunity comes to be.

Look forward to it guys........like I said just give me a couple days "heads up" and I'll have everything ready when you get here. Oh and plan several days as we can't possibly shoot all my guns in just a couple days...........hell, we'll need 3 days just for the lever guns. Kevan, would love to see and converse with you again.......hope you guys can work it out.

Yes, its been a long time Douglas, too long.
However , a trip for me is many months down the road as I am nicely learning how to walk again and I'm limited to how long I can stand on my feet at one time.
But all that will get better and soon I will be like Bionic Man in the months ahead.

It's not an immediate possibility/probability for me either at the moment but ;) I'm sure we can set something up before toooo long. Looking forward to it :) .

What an awesome thread...guns, hunting, cars, planes...all my favourite things.

What a great setup Douglas thanks for sharing.

Kevan if you need a driver let me know ;) we should make sure the tail gate is up this time...

Well, Douglas, I have felt I had a half decent reloading setup, but viewing yours has been a humbling experience, lol.
You have certainly shown that you were willing to spend on your passions. Very Impressive. :)
I will be down to visit one day, to be sure. Dave.
