I can't speak for Douglas but can guess, my wife noticed a long time ago when I don't have some form of intensive and busy project on the go I'm miserable. Lot of the folks I meet in like minded pursuits like that.

:)In the mill as a Millwright and later as a Mechanical Maintenance supervisor, pumps and hydraulics were a good portion of my job,;) but not to the level of hours/week that you put in.

My wife's comment many years ago was, " your busy doing the things you enjoy that you do not have time to enjoy them". I thought about that and she was right, I cut out some activities and ramped others up. I am retired now and my days are full to the point I have no idea how I ever had time to work. But now I do what I want to do when I want to do it within reason.

Complete description of the motor in post #74 BB.......

Well I finished my steel rack and rotating chop saw stand, works like a dream. So maybe I'll get back to some more gun building. I'm more than a little stiff from moving about 3 tons of steel from the floor beside my boat out the door and back in and up on the steel rack. Most of it wasn't bad but there were a couple 24' lengths of 1/4" wall 2" square tubing that were a little ugly.

Got a call from another of Bevan's protégés the other day, with a hint on how to get my 7X68 reamer cutting again. I'll have to scare up the needed stuff and give it a try. I may have an 8X68 Imp yet this week..........Thanks Pete !! I also managed to round up some Accraglas to bed my 450 Ruger so I'll try and get that done, so I can work up some loads and see what she'll do.

Never a dull moment.........

BB......depends on what I'm hunting...........and what is currently sighted in.........and which one I have loads for.........long shots or short shots..........or I just take the 340 Wby........;);). Actually I haven't finished lengthening the magazine on the 340 yet, another project yet to finish after 6 or so years..........My 7 RUM is sighted in and has loads, one of my 6.5X55s is sighted in with loads and lives in my shop. My 375 H&H Rem 700 is always sighted in with loads, so is the 350 RM, the 300 WSM, a 7-08..........anyway ya, it's a process all right !!!
If I'm going abroad, it is either my 300 Wby or my 375 H&H.......both 700s. If it's really big stuff the 470 NE.

:cool:Impressive Douglas, VERY impressive although that word seems a little lacking. And, thanks for sharing.

The most useful gadget I built in the loading area is a rack (between the dies and the bullets) which holds all my shell holders in numerical order from the top to the bottom and then below that is another rack which holds all my trimmer collets, pilots and neck reamers. I never have to look for the right shell holder, there it is right in front of me. I have doubles of many of the common ones, which is nice for the press and the priming tool at the same time.
The rack is just a piece of wood drilled every 1.5" or 2" (I don't remember off the top of my head) and 1/4" dowel glued in, works slick.

And don't give me a hard time about the Lee press at the far end, it came with dies as a package when I bought my 50 BMG. It is handy for bullet seating in the long cases I must say, but it doesn't see much use.

Bullets are arranged with bulk and over stock on the very top and then next down on the left they start with 20 cal and go left to right and top to bottom to 50 cal.

Ahh haa.... I know where all the reloading components disappeared to few years back. Thanks for sharing the pics! Very impressive.
