Short barrelled guns: I've posted this before. If you are a shooter, you should have at least one good short barrelled handgun to practice with! The short barrel exaggerates your mistakes and shows them to you very clearly. A great diagnostic tool! And, as you improve, your improvement is also more dramatic.
I am still a long way for being a good shot. Lots of years left to practice, and thanks to you guys I will outsource my snow shovelling and stay out of canoes. The rumour that 12(6) at least will be struck down is persistent and keeps popping up just about every Fall. Who knows?
The RCMP tell us there are only 180,000 Prohibited firearms registered, which includes all the 12-possibilities and all the registration possibilities, such as business, etc.
As the laws stand now, a business can own 12(6) firearms. So if you want 12(6), you get a business license. Sure, you can only sell to another business. But businesses ARE Peter Pan. They live forever, they don't have to get married, and they retain their value or appreciate if you find the right buyer.
Given the relatively small number of existing and AVAILABLE prohibs not in the hands of Police, Military or Business, which can be purchased by a collector or shooter with 12(6) for example, there is no wonder these things (mostly) follow inflation and aren't given away like NAA did (mostly) --thanks again, NAA!
Prproulx is right, there haven't been nearly as many Prohibs for sale lately. So either the smelter is getting a steady diet or the older guys who were going to sell, did. Maybe they're feeling better and holding on to their treasures. Good for them! There is at least one of mine that I want to be buried with, just in case I need it later. Always room to improve your shooting!
