Hey folks,

Here are a few pictures of the result of my hunt on March 21...Sorry for all the blood, it was too cold to clean the animal's face up properly.:redface:

You can see where the bullet exited (patch of grey wool) just behind the shoulder.

My first Muskox, and a good one ta' boot:dancingbanana:!!

Details:

Rifle used (for all the 'nutz:D): Remy BDL SS in .270 win (aka old faithful;))
Range: A whopping 30 yards :sniper:
Ammo: Federal HE 140 gr TBBC factory fodder
# of shots: 2
Temp: -32 celsius when we left town at 8:00 am, -42 with the wind; -34 static and -49 with the wind when we got back at 6:45 pm.

What a day, what a hunt!! Gotta go, I've got some butchering to take care of today, I can't wait to get some of the meat on the barbeque.

Where in Nunavut did you shoot him?

How big is he? He doesn't look that big, but what do I know? And, I am very curious what musk ox tastes like, can you describe it once you bbq some up?

I have a set of buff horns that are huge in my garage, shot with a 270 by a friend of mine.
Just goes to show, hit with you are supposed to!:D

How about some deatils of the hunt? How much daylight do you have there now? What an awesome looking animal. :D Good job!!!

My guess is its easier to get it done right there while he's warm and not frozen.;)

And they have no trees.:)

Awesome, absolutely awesome. I'd sure like to get some feed back on how that critter tastes like. What are you going to do with the hide? :):):)
