Old classic hunting rifles.

This is a JC Higgins Model 50, 270 Win, made for Sears and Roebuck. They were built using FN actions. Can you imagine that? That would be like Canadian Tire having a rifle built for them with their name on it today, using Sako actions. :D

Where do you think the Weatherby Vanguard first showed up? It was built by Howa for Wal-Mart only. It's now what it is - one of the most popular reasonably priced rifles available, and it is a Roy. Complete with crappy trigger!

Weatherby was having Vanguard rifles built by Howa before Walmart even existed, however you're right about the trigger. :)

Very nice Dave.

I've got a M-54 in .270 that has been given to me, but I won't be able to get it until this summer. I recently bought a Brno ZG-47 in .30/06, but I had it sent straight to Dave Jennings for some minor tweaking, and I hope to have it by the end of the month. Once it's home I'll post some pics.

In the meatime, here is a pic of my wife's Husqvarna 1600 .30/06

The scope is a Khales 6X that I mounted just for the picture, but normally the rifle is wearing a 1.75-6X Leupold or a ghost ring. For those who might be offended by the Ruger front sight band or the Decelerator recoil pad, sorry about that.

Thanks for your vote. I am what you would call a very frustrated wannabe photographer. Mostly the lighting is what gets me, or shadows.

Noel - check out a program called Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshoplightroom/

theres a 30 day trial you can check out. you can get some very striking results even with just the basic presets, especially with the type of photos you and Win 38-55 are taking. works best with cameras that can shoot RAW format, but will also work with just plain .JPEGS.
its very easy to emulate the look and feel of classic pics using lightroom's adjustments. this is possible by hand, manually, in almost any image editor but its a much more time-consuming process than simply desaturating an image and upping the contrast. lightroom makes it much easier and more intuitive.
