Nice post war (2) commercial FN that be! Maybe late 40's made I reckon. Looks to be drilled & tapped for Weaver bases..dang.

I kinda thought that it was not factory drilled given the type of safety on it. I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't drilled cuz I wouldn't have it done myself.

Previous owner suggested 1940s vintage as well.

That rifle is fine quality dead ###y and not boring at all. Let us know how it shoots!

I have a 3 position safety coming for it. Going to have that installed with a Timney and have it glass bedded and floated. Range report after that.

Might have to get some 220gr RNs for it for the full Fudd effect. :)

They made them from 1947 to early 60’s IIRC

made by talented people on very good tools and machines. how come you get that one Paul? you are suppose to love only rem 700 and stevens 200 or marlin xl7 in plastic ...

I have its twin in 270 Winchester. It has a Pecar 4X scope on it, and shoots like it knows where to go.

No trick at all to run five turkeys off the rail at 385 meters on our silhouette course using any hunting bullet you care to load.

You will enjoy that '06 until you get tired of it being so predictable. Great rifles!

Bah... someone put a pussy pad on it.

Yeah, that's too bad. Scope base options are very much limited due to the hole positions.

I put Buehler split rings on my FN... makes it look really classy.

I've had rifles like that in the past and liked them, but you're right that most of my rifles have been 700s. Have been downsizing but doing some upgrading and steamlining. This rifle will make a fine "moose" rifle if I ever get to go again. Will turn 60 in a couple yrs so might need a nice rifle for a retirement moose hunt in NFLD.
