Old Frosty Farky Post bumped....ignore

x2 Many thanks to all who had a hand in organising. I had a great couple of days and learned a lot including " when the wind moves your bullets two feet to the left don't adjust as though it was only moving them a few inches !!" My poor spotter said he felt like reaching over and yanking on my windage turret as I was slowly walking shots onto the center LOL !

Thank God today wasn't windy as now I at least don't have to throw the TRG away and can only blame the nut behind the gun not the gun itself :)

A great event - thanks again !

Now about an update Rich? If I had to guess....

Marc 1st in FO
Glen 1st in FTR

:)

Did you get a prelim report? :D

Kind of, I knew who was in the led after day 1. That's just the way it usually works as the results also indicate. Looks like it was a great shoot and well attended and organized. Sounds like you had some winds and you had to be a flag reader since the wind was too fast for a good mirage picture. Congrats to all the shooters and esp. the winners w:h: and sorry I missed it. Hats of to the organizer of this event as well and the target crews that pulls for us.

Richard,
That was a fantastic 2 day event that was very well organized, you should be proud!
It's going to be a long, long time before Blake stops smiling! This was our first event and we met a lot of good people, can't wait till the next one......
Thanks!

Thanks Richard and all those that helped organize the event, was a great weekend, so nice to see everyone again and a few new shooters, etc.
Gotta love those hurricane force winds on Saturday, :) . w:h:

Ron,

Blake shot a phenomenal match Saturday (and today), he should be proud. Those were by far THE WORST wind conditions I have seen on our range in my short time shooting. Don't get me wrong, we get some tricky conditions, but those winds were something!!

Between the cease fires to retrieve target faces, the 2x4 uprights snapping and all the other problems the wind caused I am just glad we got to finish the day.

It was great to meet you both and hope to see you guys at many more events here in the future.

Maybe next time you can even come and BS around the fire with us :D.

I think you would have been right at home in the wind here Keith, far worse than Sacramento AND Winnipeg.

Richard, just walked in the door in PG.

Just wanted to say thanks again for such a great event this weekend. I was really taken aback by the number of guys who so generously offered advice and encouragement to help out this rookie. Glen Taylor, Len G (who lent me his rear bag when mine was too low :) ), Mick M, Tom F, Leeper and yourself among others...just a great group of guys. And despite that I plan on whipping your asses next year! :D

Thanks again guys, it was awesome.

Thanks Richard and the KTSA folks for again running the top drawer match we're all accustomed to. I know everyone had a good rip at 'er on Saturday. Kind of puts a different spin on things don't it. Nice seeing you all again. Home now and back to work. Nothing's broke.....everythings here, so I don't have to get someone to pick up stuff I forgot to take home. Thanks again.
Cheers, Glen

Richard, thanks for putting on a super match AND keeping your cool to sort through all the ups and downs the match threw at you. It was very smoothly run and it couldn't have been resolved any better.

Very quick thinking on your feet. We will get the team match next time - that would have been way too much fun.

To Paul Reibin, for being a great range officer and keeping us slow (chatting too much ) shooters onto the line and keeping the match moving along.

To the target pullers, only CR@P!!!! I bet most of their arms are a few inches longer and very sore from keeping those targets up. I have scored but nothing like those winds and those targets need some strength to keep in place and not moving about. Nice job to all.

Yes, the wind blew and I have not had this much fun missing in my life. What a hoot! You really gain a whole lotta trust in your gear when it is hold 5 ring one shot then outside 3 the next.

My favorite, setting up on where you want to aim, looking at the flags and pulling the trigger not looking through the scope cause the flags are changing too fast.

Both Bill Leeper and Bob Pitcairn (sp?) really impressed me with their wind reading skills. Shooting a 308 and 223 respectively, they shot such high scores despite winds which bounced our high BC combo's all over the map.

To all the novice and new shooters that came near and far to play. Kind of a trial by fire but you have seen some of the worst and best air you can shoot in and its not the end of the world. I prefered the gale :)

Longshot, I hope that more tactical shooters will come out to F matches. Nice rifle and it seem to shoot great.

Tomochan, Yes, when your shot is 3 mins off target - TURN THAT DIAL!!!!!! :)

Inspector put a whole new spin on Mexican match. Take care of Richards rifle - shoots pretty darn good.

A big thumbs up to Blake S and rshew for coming out as novice shooters. Blake put on quite a show at 500m on the 3rd relay. First time at this distance, birds walking and he shot one of the highest score of any F shooter. Kids got talent.

If it wasn't for a few more V's I picked up along the way, he would have beaten me with my own rifle.

Way to go MarcT. for a great steady match. Yes, getting greedy for another V can bite you in the @$$. Nice shooting.

Ron Hiller's near perfect 20 shot match on Sunday. That is a tack driver. You better not shoot out that barrel or Wendy is going to KILL you.

For those that are looking at the relay scores and wondering, the relays went 2-15, 2-15, 2-10 (due to time), 2-15 and 2-20 (to make up for the Sat reduction). 5 is the max score per shot. V's are used as tie breakers.

So much more to add. Hope those that took pics will be able to post them.

Was a great match and I had a superb time. Looking forward to the VBulls in Oct.

I had a blast as usual, and my sincere thanks to Richard, Paul, the target pullers, and the KTSA for providing me with a roof over my head (the clubhouse), as I suspect that the wind would have wrecked my truck tent again!

I'll add another voice to the chorus: if you're interested in F-class shooting and have thought about trying it out, the Running Of The V-Bulls is exactly what you're looking for. This match is designed to welcome new shooters, and is absolutely worth participating in. Contact Obtunded for more info, but don't delay!

Hi Jerry,

you are on the list! You confirmed with me very early on - thank you!!!! I look forward to shooting with you again.

I have heard all about Blake and he put a huge smile on my face! THANK YOU for helping a new and young shooter!!! He will kick all of our butts in no time and he will hopefully be carrying the torch!

Entry form... there is a link to the entry form in the forst post of this thread or here

Please send the completed entries to me via email, or via postal mail

The form has the BCRA as contact... nope, please use me.

Looking forward to seeing you there!!

Also, I understand the team shoot was a no-go due to multiple conditions...

Do we have any interest for a fun team shoot for this match?

Ooops, forgot about that. I will send you some money.

Nothing would make me happier then seeing some young shooters kick my butt. Tired of old guys doing that :)

I know I am going to pay for that......

Given that EVERY shooter that could put their name in for the team shoot did, I would say it was a positive thing. Would be a great introduction to those wanting to move towards larger matches. There is no other way to try it.

I was really looking forward to seeing who would be the poor fool that got to be the wind coach for Saturdays gale.

"aim right", "how much?", "H3LL if I know. Just put in a whole bunch and pray"

Personally, I would say we should have 1 300m relay, 1 500m relay then 1 500m team relay (10 or 15 shots really doesn't matter). There simply isn't enough time to stick in 4 relays on Saturday.

Then 2 500m relays on Sunday per usual. 60 shots for the individual results is plenty enough to separate the field.

I think the random team made up of shooters from the various classes was an excellent idea.

Whatever, the format, please let us know the number of shots WAY in advance. A few shooters only had enough ammo for the orig event and couldn't play in the team event.

I think the 75 total plus sighters and foulers is plenty shooting and gives you enough time to get things rolling. Shooting later in the day may not be an option come late Oct. anyways.

You will likely loose quite a bit of time getting the team match explained and sorted out.

Let us know...

Jerry

Thanks to Richard and all those who made the match possible!Well done it was a lot of fun!
A special thanks to Bucky and Tanis for feeding me when they didn't know me at all.Great folks
at this match! My congrats to Blake for kicking some butt! Can't wait to see what he can do with his
own rifle!
I'm used to shooting minute of man or minute of head, so holding the 2.5 inch V bull at 500m was a great
learning experience!I will definately try to bring out at least one tactical shooter next time I come play.
Hopefully some of you folks will want to come out and try movers and targets only exposed for 3 seconds!
Once again it was a good time and I will be back!Maybe with some Berger 155.5's this time!;)

Hi Ian, I'll put a check in the mail right away. I hoped I'd see you at the Farky and pay you there but..........you didn't come see us.
Cheers, Glen
