All day long I see post after post of fancy this and tactical that and I think to myself "Where's the love of the old boys?"........ I have several CZ's and they are great rifles but few things fill me with joy then going out with an old open site single shot and blasting away. This last weekend I got my hands on a 1935 Winchester Model 68 with the original aperture sights. Barrel was full of crap and the bolt covered in gunk, few hours later I had the bolt shining and the barrel showing crisp clean grooves. Off to the range and a few adjustments later I had it shooting 3/4" groups an inch high at 25 using minimags, two turns on the elevation wheel and CB Shorts hitting bang on. Today I stripped the stock as it was in need of some TLC otherwise I'd throw up some pics. I'll post some once the stock is finished.
But here's my question....... I know we all have fancy flyshooting .22's in our safes but who also have a love of the old single shots of yore? If so, what have ya got?

I don't have an old single shot, but I absolutely love my Remington Nylon model 11!! Nothing like bagging a couple gophers with the open sights :)

Im not rockin a single shot either but my Brno 581 semi is a dream to shoot gophers with. Ive gone to the store a hundred times to look at new .22's but i just cant let my Brno go as my #1..

I have a Cooey 750 that I bought new with my Dad in 1972. I have lovingly oiled and cared for it since then. I picked up an older pre serial number era Cooey 75 with almost no finish on the stock and the barrel covered in an orange haze. The beater actually shoots better. Maybe I should leave my good one leaning up against a tree in the rain for a few years to help "season" it.....

No pics, but I smoked a few gophers with an old Savage 6AB giller. The old thing intrigued me and I bought a couple more gillers. Well, maybe a "few" more. I have about 15 or so now.

The old Savage came out of the basement stash at the old E&D in Maple Ridge. I will eventually sell off most of the others, but that one will stay with me. :)

Don't have any single shots, but do have a thing for old pump .22's and have acquired a few of those.

I have an old Cooey 39 that looks like it was dragged behind a truck down 300 miles of gravel road... shoots suprisingly well for it's age and terrible trigger and even worse sights.... but it's fun to play with!!

Of course my first love is still a CZ/Bruno

I had my grand fathers's old Cooey single shot 22, it was terrible for miss firing with light firing pin strikes. Got drunk one night camping and through it in the fire, I can not say I have ever missed it, great fun watching my brothers face when he came back from grabbing another beer, now that was more fun than that POS ever was.

Visiting Maple Creek up on the 'bench' ....circa 1960....happiness was a single shot Cooey and a box of shorts...never even noticed the farmers daughter....fast forward 55 years....can't shoot open sights anymore , the farmers daughter had 6 kids and is probably a grandmother herself now but I've returned to my roots, shooting 22's again....with my delightful granddaughters..

^^ Very nice!

Refinish it ! I may redo this stock, not sure yet... Have had an inkling to get that red hue like the cz Canadians..

The first firearm I ever used was an old Model 60- not nearly as nice as the one you show here.

But the picture brings back many fond memories - thank yup for that!

Your welcome ! Ill have some pics with dead critters next to it when season comes back in.

Oh, ''rough'' is being kind. But it was my departed father's first gun. If not for sentimental reasons (keeping the rusty surfaces as such) I would refinish it, or give it to charity.
