Old Mauser makover- lot of pictures

Indeed, very well done. The rifle 'looked' pretty nice in the Before state, but you've really stepped it up. That bluing looks great. Really a nice straight forward project that anyone could accomplish with your tips.

Awesome job congrats , but you should do a light recut - clean out on the checkering , that will really make your stock come to life .

I’m into the process of doing the same, my dad gave me an old small ring Mauser 98 in 8x57 that he bought when he was 16(now80), it is a military that has been sporterized but really well done stock wise so I striped it and refined a bit the lines, next I masked the checkering and I will fit the new but pad with the needed spacers(LOP, is a bit short) after that I will start the refinishing process using extra dark shaftol oil! I had Garry Flach to check head space, install a double set trigger(the way it use to be) and modified the bolt to a nice butter knife one!
I’m excited about it!
