OMG how depressing

Our country is lame in so many ways, I am beginning to wonder where and if we make for it in other ways anymore.

- Better beer and wine
- Prettier and LIGHTER women
- Do not have to worry about bankruptcy if I have a heart attack
- SAFE communities
- LOWER debt to GDP ratio
- MUCH lower crime rate
- Relatively equitable court system
- No litigation lottery
- Not dependent on Petro-dictatorships other than Alberta
- No BGH in meat
- No Wall Street f**king the financial system every 5 years
- Three distinct political parties instead of two that are really one
- Kick ass peacekeepers not arrogant war mongers
- Politeness
- Much less venality
- Recycle far more than the US
- Better social safety net
- We give a s**t about our neighbour (mostly) instead of fearing them
- Touques and Chesterfields
- 25% of the worlds fresh water
- Maple Syrup
- Quebec and the lovely people therein (Gotta love Quebec City and Quebec Women)
- A completely voluntary Armed Forces
- Respected by the world over (except for environmental performance)
- One of the richest nations on the planet
- Tolerance in our societies
- Banks that got it right
- And generally a great place to live. The rest is noise.

There is more to life than owning a firearm. We live in quite possibly the greatest country on Earth. Just because you can fondle unimpeded every piece of black rifle ####o in the US does not singularly warrant pining for life in the USA.

I am Canadian and damn proud of it. We are not perfect but we pretty well have gotten it right.

I've been to Kitchener, not going again!

All I can say is if you want to feel better, compare drug prices, usually I find prescription stuff is about 25% of what it costs in the US which is frankly more important than a couple of hundred dollars difference on guns (and that doesn't take into account the Blue Cross subsidy).

Completely off-topic but I always think one of the best things about the US is that their bank system seems to work more efficiently and more securely. The InterAC system is ####, I know it costs less for retailers but you get what you pay for. You can use debit cards in the US with the paypass system for example.

The other thing I notice is that usually (not always) the road system seems to better designed in the US, I-15 in Montana is definitely better thought out than Highway 2 in Alberta, although not as well maintained.

Then I went to the mall, and Dunham sports which is a sports store like Sportchek here, carries firearms and ammo as well. They were selling the WASR version of the AK-47 which I believe is Romanian built for $349.00 and .223 box of 20 WOLF ammo $5.40.

I'm working in Northern Minnesota right now. Had exactly the same experience! Both at Gander and at Dunham's.

The Dunham's here had surplus .308 too super cheap, I posted about the ammo prices but none of the other Nutz believed me. And those AK's were a suprise. The mall has a "No Guns Permitted on the Premises" sticker on the door and they sell AK's in the sports store!!

It's crazy isn't it.
