Took a little drive today with my family to Port Huron Mich. Went into my favourite store, Gander Mountain. Go to the back and look at all the black rifle goodness and what do I see... S&W M&P 15 with an EOtech on it for $1399.00 :( ah if only we could buy them and bring them back like the clothes we bought for the kids. And the ammo all out in the open on the shelves just like any other object you would find in a dept. store. I settled for the HKS speed loader for my 9mm and a nice S&W T-shirt:rolleyes:

I'm an hr. away from a Gander Mountain, so I go a few times a yr. Its great to be able to handle all the firearms on the wall (and there is a lot) without having to ask someone for assistance. I usually buy firearms online or here in the EE, so I visit Gander Mtn to handle the firearm first before purchasing online.

FYI there are some (reasonably priced) outfits in the US that will handle the export for you. I'm not sure how tight the margin would be between importing and just buying it here though... would cost you about $325 to get it here, then taxes and shipping but you'd pay that anyhow. Oh, are they 5.56mm or .223? I guess you might have problems if it's 5.56mm. I get your point though, would be great to just buy it and not worry about hassles at the border...

Dunham sports

Then I went to the mall, and Dunham sports which is a sports store like Sportchek here, carries firearms and ammo as well. They were selling the WASR version of the AK-47 which I believe is Romanian built for $349.00 and .223 box of 20 WOLF ammo $5.40.

You can get them here for that price!!!! I regularily see them for $1500, so I don't really see much of a deal to be had on that rifle! I have seen them on sale brand new for $1400, but I cant say where. It was a one time deal when they got a large order and had to blow them out. There is definetily some great deals in the US but I dont think this is one of them. The craziest thing I have seen is a Glock 26, or 27 with the Canadian legal barrel for $700 thats $300 less than questar is selling them for. Or the Taurus Judge with the 6 inch barrel for $525! This is at the Buffalo Gun Centre.

This one had the EOtech on it for 1399. You can't find that here. Don't forget Mich. pays only 6% sales tax. The EOtech alone was worth $429.00 US.

f**king liberals.

Can't say that anymore. The CPC has been in power long enough to do something about that & for us in general. And no "they can't do anything without a majority" B.S.. They can't rest their hat on DELAYING ONLY the UN marking scheme, or making us not pay a fee to renew a license that shouldn't exist anyway.

You mean "f**king Conservatives". They're the ones who made the AK prohibited.

Yup the RED conservatives of the day, for shame. Anyone who was around with them has NO place in the current CPC. Even the current CPC really has no place in the CPC with very few exceptions.

I was just at Gander MOuntain in Buffalo today. It is so nice to handle all the guns, no hassles, no second looks. Where did we go wrong?
My local gun shop lets you handle anything without trouble. In fact, if you express the slightest interest he invites you behind the counter for a closer look. If you ask about anything he insists you try the action and trigger (dry fire). I'm not talking cheap stuff either, last one he made me try was a Sako Bavarian... depends where you are I guess but not all of Canada sucks yet. ;)

There is no counter, no guy to ask anything!! They are all , and I do mean all, are on the wall available to be picked up,tried with no salesman!! Like walking into your own personal gun room and picking it up. No interest to express, no nothing. They are there for the checking!!! Unsupervised other then the guy in the middle of the area by the cash register. So yea you have it ok, but Canada still sucks for the gun shops.

Oh geez... I wasn't getting you before. That makes me want to move to the US more than ever . I have to admit that even my local shop sucks compared to what you describe. Damn... now I'm depressed too :p!

You have been spoiled by Gander mtn and the Gun center. For me going in the Gun Center is like what heaven may look like. There atr 3 50's on display
and Ak's hanging on the walls like they were shovels in a hardware store.
Various types of M14/M1A's and AR's a plenty. Oh and help yourself to the ammo too. Did I mention handuns? because they have a ton of those, and lots of prohibs too. The difference between them and Gander mtn though is these guys are experts, and you can have great conversations with them.

Only the handguns are behind glass at Gander, but all shotguns and rifles, new and used are free for the taking, there is just a wire hooked up to each one so you cannot walk away with it, but its plenty long so you can shoulder the firearm with no problem.

Did I mention they actually smile, and ask you how they can help you. There are a few Canadian stores, especially Le Baron who should send employees down to Gander Mtn. to learn a thing or two. :p:D
