After work I am headed out to get my cz452lux in .22lr and I'm happier than a pig in ####. I'm going to pickup 1000 rnds of something cheap because I want to shoot lots. So, I ask you, people of CGN, what is decent CHEAP ammo?

Also, I have no special purposes in mind, just plinking at the range and in the woods possibly shooting a few gophers. What is needed is a good utilitarian ammo.

I will post some pictures after I bring it home. :D

Depends what you want to do with it. If you are going shooting gophers out on "The Ridge" or something...just grab the Walmart Federal bulk-packs as they seem to like most federal. It is also pretty great o plink with and does alright with targets, but is no match type ammo....then again it's cheap! Good luck, have fun and congrats!

Don't get a brick of one kind, get several differant kinds and weights, hollow point and solid. this will give you a good idea of what it shoots well. Winchester grey box, wildcat, federal classic 40 solids, blaser....and more:D
 
The American Eagle copper gilded 36g HP shoots well out of my CZ Varmint. They come in bricks of 400 and its only a few dollars more than the Fed bulk pack. When I buy it by the case of 4000 it's actually about the same price. If you don't want/need copper gilded/plated ammo then American Eagle also has 40g LRN in bricks of 500 which my CZ liked as well. The Fed bulk packs are okay and will work but I got better results with the AE for 'cheap' ammo. YMMV...........

I use winchester power point for gophers(40grain hp), try a box or two(availible at wholesale). It will be a shade under $3 a box of 50. I bought a 5000rd case though :) Its a little pricy for plinking though. For plinking I would recomend the federal 525 bulk packs, works on gophers, but not as effective.
