We did it. Not every shot due to wind but we had hits at a mile.
PGW Timberwolf in 300 PRC
Schmidt and Bender in mil dot
Seb joypod
Hornady Hit Indicator
30 x 30 inch AR400 1/2” plate (over done, 3/8 would be plenty)
Kowa 20x spotting scope
Polecat stand for spotting scope
Cardboard was to identify miss location.
The HIT indicator worked perfect with spotting scope and could be seen in rifle scope also.
Indicator Blinks more than once. Highly recommend for this.
Spotter stayed 500 yards off target to check location of hits on cardboard when necessary.
A 5/8 inch bent solid rod was attached to the steel target with bolt on frame holders I made
The bend was to insure indicator did not get any splash and is recommended in HIT instructions
The trailer is my design and lowers to ground level with boat winch.
As flat as the prairies are there’s still some dips and mounds when shooting a mile.
This was her second day of long range shooting, one day at 1000 with FTR rifles, then one mile following week.
Only prior rifle experience was winter prep work indoors with Anschutz target 22 and seb joypod shooting tic tacs at 25 yards.
We did our best to call wind for her but this was our first day at a mile also.
She is an accomplished IPSC shooter though, with 35000 rounds experience and excellent gun handling skills.
I can confirm the 35000, I loaded all of them for her. Thanks Dillon.
