One toad of a putty-tat!

I totally agree with the first comment about sitting back from the trophy to make it look even bigger. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but either way one just has to look at the width between the ears and that bulging shoulder to know it is a great cat.
Bragg Creek, Oregon...... er Alberta...... lol got to love how this crap gets twisted to match each person's fantasies. :bangHead:

Can't say I didn't warn you when I posted it and even called it being farther north!;) :p

That is some creature am glad that we dont have those here, being a bit of an imperialist I prefer my targets not to shoot back or even be dangerous!
I am so glad our ferals are no bigger than house cats.

They are truly magnificent animals and are at, in my opinion, the root of the meaning off the word “wild” , silent , solitary and reclusive. I have can count on my one hand the ones I have seen over the years and my son and I, while sitting on a scrape line, had one walk up to within 30 feet. When it realized we were there it bolted.
While I realize their numbers have to be controlled I have no desire to shoot one of these animals.

While we asre on the kitty subject, I was sent these pics in an email, but no information to go with them. Anyone with insight chime in.

Saw that one not long ago Boomer. If I remember correctly it was supposedly shot around Rocky Mountain House Alberta. But remember this is the interweb

I think Noel was the one who sent me the email about that one. I will see if I can find it.....

The way they set up the picture with the hunter standing 10' feet behind the cat brings it's real size into question, but a nice cat all the same. Thanks for the info.

I hate it when hunters and or guides take pics like that :(

The cat is from Western Alberta. The fella on the right is Byron Stewart, owner/operator of "Track n Trails" outfitting in Cynthia, Alberta. The cat is as big as they get, scored over 15" Boone and Crocket. There is no photoshop with these pictures.
"Salty" Once the hounds get their chance to chew on the cat they don't show much interest anymore, it's tough just to get them looking ahead for a picture.

Thanks for the clarification WildCats. Appologies to those involved for questioning the photo - it just looked weird. I'm glad to know the true story.

That is a huge cat. Gorgeous houds too. Trained a hell of a lot better than my two muts:redface:

Don't feel bad, as soon as I saw the second and third pic I was thinking photoshopped too, just a weird angle I guess...

I guess I could have but my "photoshop" would be printing it off, gluing a pic of me in and then scanning it. Too much work!

As a guy that has hunted with hounds for many years. I wouldn't concern yourself with the dogs apparent lack of interest in the dead cat.
If the cat was to move however, pandemonium would break loose.
I bet it would and not just with the dogs!!:D  :runaway:

As always it's good to see the "little people" are getting out hunting.

With regards to Noels first 3 photo's, the second 2 just don't look right for whatever reason but it's one nice cat to be sure. If I knew how to run all this prophoto software on this computer I'd put myself in the pic but instead I'll just count my blessings I'm able to turn this bastard on and operate the "flush toilet" thingy upstairs.

Jarrod, I think I sent you those pics too, IIRC They really cheated those pics.

When I got them, the cat was from Grande Cache, I saw the post over at AlbertaGame and they were claiming B.C. ........ Soon Labrador will chime in claiming it.

A buddy said East koots---It's not in the same class as the Alberta Tom.
Pics are hard to judge but to me it looks like an average mature Tom. buddy also said it was a couple years ago.

Here is a couple mature Toms that bump against the B@C all time. They are average mature Toms.

Here is one treed that may go all time B@C by far the largest cougar my dogs have ever caught. Won't speculate on weight he was a big bastard.

Though I posted pics of this Female before I think---here is a mature female that my ten year old son and I treed in January of this year---she was let go and is doing well as I keep tabs on her and her almost mature kit.

I am passionate about cougar hunting, case you never noticed;)

Great pics Horshur! I remember the one with two cats in the same tree.
Sure is exciting to get so close to one of these big cats. Especially when you are so dog tired from running after them and the dogs that you'd never have a chance to defend yourself. LOL Not that one would be able to anyway....
