ONT New restricted transfer wait times??

Today (April 8) I emailed & got a response saying they're processing transfers initiated on Mar 14th. Looks like they take multiple days to get through one day of transfers! :-(

I did that yesterday and the reply I received said that my transfer is with the CFO pending review and I’d receive an email upon approval. That after calling and speaking with someone live last Friday and being told it should be done Monday or Tuesday this week.

Send an email. I got a reply within an hour with the transfer attached.

If it is your first purchase it usually takes a little longer.

Also if you bought multiple items, there is likely a delay.

I have to dispute both of these statements.
I found it's very random. The duration needed to approve a transfer is very random and only dependent on the time of the year, not the individuals who are involved.

Agreed. As highly scrutinized we are to even have a restricted license issued to us, the concept of it being a first purchase or a purchase of more than one item being cause for delay is ludicrous; at least as ludicrous as it taking a full calendar month or more to complete a transfer (not to mention then having to wait another 2-4 weeks for the hard copy of the registration to arrive in the mail so that you can even take the firearm to the range). This is case-study bureaucracy inefficiency.

Don't misunderstand; I'm not averse in the least to checks and balances for the paper trail of restricted firearms ownership. Not in the least. However, with all of the information the RCMP and the CFO have on file for each and every license holder at their fingertips, a transfer should take minutes, not weeks.

Totally agreed on this point. I had an experience that I called in to asking why it's a delay to the transfer the agent put me hold for literally a few minutes and the transfer was done and email was sent.
That gave me an impression that they actually don't do anything else other than just clicking a button on the screen.
Why can't they automate this whole process? They have all the private information of ours, and transferee can be easily checked upon with various criterias and approved/rejected automatically.

Update: After being told last week that I should expect to see my transfer go through Monday or Tuesday this week and having still not seen any progress this morning, I called again and was advised that I need to call the Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario due to an issue with the instructor who facilitated my CFSC/CRFSC in early November 2021. As a result of whatever issue exists with him, my safety training and subsequently my license, are invalid and my transfer will not be completed until I get in contact with FSESO and they advise next steps.

Until then my $1000 purchase will be sitting at the dealer collecting dust as my range membership ticks away unused.

Oh man, thats a kick in the head!
Sorry to hear! I hope you can get it resolved quickly.

I'm at the mercy of the FSESO. There's seemingly no way to call and speak live to a person; you have to leave a voicemail and they'll return your call in 24-48 hours. Seeing tomorrow is a statutory holiday, I'm reasonably confident I'll hear from no one until mid-next week now.
