They are citing 4-6 weeks worth of processing time right now :( , for restricteds....

It boggles my mind how the Ontario CFO's dept. works.....if/when it works....:nest:

Right now is a bad time to be doing any of the following in Ontario:

1. Waiting for certified test results
2. Applying for a firearms license
3. Buying or selling a restricted firearm
4. Trying to get an LTATT

And if you are looking to do all 4 this summer, well, I've got bad news for you... you'll be lucky to be shooting by August.

It has to be just the time of year. Spring is in the air, three season clubs are getting fired up and people are getting outside and enjoying the ranges. When the ranges are busy members are buying and selling restricted firearms and club executive are renewing long term ATT's. The good weather makes for a busy CFO office. Government employees are probably taking some holidays now that the nice weather is here too.

It's partially to do with the time of year, but it's to do with the politically-mandated thumb-twiddling that happens at the ON CFO's office. Fact is, they often do things slowly on purpose. With my last few restricted transfers, it drags on and on until I call them, then it somehow gets done instantly. It's as if they are waiting to see if you will actually make a fuss about it.

For me, the calls seem to be doing nothing....:(...not unlike the goggles....;)

4-6 weeks for test results sounds about right. I'm going in to the 6th week for the non-restricted, 5 weeks for restricted.
I started the process in early March and it looks like I wont be able to go shooting until August.

I got the test results inside of about 2 weeks, and my RPAL card was mailed to me about two weeks after I received the results - no worries there. :yingyang:

The transfer of my first restricted firearm is what's expected to take 4-6 weeks.....:(

And I kid you not, but sometimes I think they deliberately "busy" their phone lines so that people cannot follow-up....:stirthepot2:....soemthing's afoot....

What I dont understand about ontario is if I purchase a restricted through a local shop ( ie target sports ) transfer is completed withing 4 - 5 days MAX, for some reason restrcited private sales take 3 - 4 weeks.

ive been waiting ~2wks for a private restricted xfer. cfo in ontario said wait times are ~4wks right now. i spoke to someone from the local gunstore and he mentioned that it might be caused by the influx of SKS' recently. The SKS' have whack serial numbers which cause a lot of them to be flagged and need to have a FO review and manually enter the serial# in. This would take away from the FO's doing their normal review proc i guess. Seems ####ty that they won't even look at the app. since it's in most cases just to rubber stamp them.

I take it you "upgraded" a PAL to RPAL?
