Ontario CFO Rocks +++++++

Useless bureacracy, waste, inefficiency & deliberate harassment should not be condoned or tolerated. If I were in charge, heads would roll if transfers/STATT's took longer than 4 hours without reasonable excuse. WTF are these people doing? I wonder how long it would take them to go to your home and confiscate your guns? Probably less than a 1/2 hour.

Feh , They'd be all day at my place:p

...Of course, I do not believe the intent behind our firearms system was for public safety so much as it was to make things sufficiently onerous so as to discourage private firearms ownership...

And it's working quite well too.

10/10 non-gun owners I bring to the range enjoy the sport and see why we wan't to keep it alive. I also see that about 5/10 of them find the requirements to buy and shoot restricted firearms are too onerous and costly to pursue. (Range membership dues and ATT's top the sh1t-list).

It's always the same comments when they finally realize how silly the rules are. "So let me get this straight, I need to pay a membership to a range to get to shoot MY guns? And an ATT to allow me to bring MY gun to the range? The range I am a member of? That I PAY to use? That I have a license to own the guns I'll use? And this ATT thing is supposed to stop me from bringing the gun down town and rob the liquor store? Are you serious?!?"

And that comments comes back over and over everytime once people realize that a gun is a gun it does not rob a bank by itself, it does not shoot a wife by itself, it does'nt even DISCHARGE by itself.

Yeah CFO's are so nice and great, they allowed me to bring MY property, property that I'm allowed to own, from my house to the range that they KNOW I'm a paying member of, and they only took a day/week/month to allow me to bend over and get ####ed, are'nt they nice :) :) :) :)

There should be an online ATT/Restricted Transfer request form, file it-print it off immediately. We need the CFO to be very small. Layoff 90% of them and make everything automated. Easier, faster, cheaper.

Find out what the budgets for running provincial CFO offices and make it public how much money the taxpayers could save by eliminating the middle man. Seems to have worked for the LGR so keep going. At least it's a start.

I think you are right. It seems to me that there might be a public shift (It could just be my imagination though) toward some fiscal constraint, or at least toleration of the idea, given the trouble we see countries like Greece, Spain, the US and others having. By putting together a solid case of how the CFO is not really necessary and how much money could be saved by their elimination, we might be able to get enough support to make things happen.

Where would we start looking for these numbers?

My friend, who is responsible for getting me back into shooting, is not really interested in his RPAL because of the hassle involved just to be able to shoot the gun that he would own. For me, getting an RPAL is my message (be it ever so small) to the establishment: "You are not going to discourage me from restricted gun ownership. I own guns, I am proud of it, I am here, and I am not going away." As a side benefit, the stats look better when considering numbers of restricted license holders. Might give the politicians something to consider.
