Ontario Deer Camp Thread

WMU# 48 leaving Friday not seeing much deer this year lots of bears wolves, yotes and moose though!!!!Can't wait good luck all and be safe

57 zone, camp just outside of Combermere, 10 minutes drive from home.
Trails cleared, shooting lanes cut, firewood ready, all done on two work w-ends this summer. Guys will start showing up friday afternoon, I move a little at a time everytime I go for visit & by sunday night I will be ready to move in for two weeks. One new hunter(son of member) with his temp gun permit I'll figure out best watch to put him on mon morn & new beagle pup to break in this year:)
Life is good at camp, excelt meals, good company & since every wife sends a big desert plater more lbs to shed after the season:redface:

43B here too. It's in the 3rd week, the weather is generally unpredicatable and the deer are always on edge from what appears to be year-round local hunting pressure. This year only a doe and a fawn appear to be on the trail cams, as well as 3 wild dogs.

Will be heading up on the 13th to cut some wood for the week, get the stands all ship shape, pick up some supplies and wander around the island for a day or two before the deering starts. At least two of us will be there all week, with others not having the time off so only showing up for the first two days or the last three or whatever. Either way, I have the time off and it's great to spend a week in the bush away from the email the cell and everything else that work uses to find me. If the weather is bad I'll just throw another log on the fire and curl up in the sleeping bag.

I'm not going to tell ya how to hunt but, this close to opening I wouldn't risk disturbing anything around my watch. Cleaning up your watch should of been done at the least a couple of weeks ago why risk trompin around your watch and leave'n all kinds a scent just before opening, do it after the first hunt, at least that way your not given the deer any notice your comin Monday. just my opinion.
Well, we are headed out early on Friday Morning.....some libations will be taking place Fri. Night, and Sat. is devoted to cleaning up a bunch of the Watches. They have fallen into disrepair over the last number of years, and we are going a day early to do some clean up and brush cutting.

For some reason, this year, I am looking forward to getting away, more than I ever have. Worked my ass off this year, and am really looking forward to getting away. Didn't even get my Buck this year, with Archery equipment, before the regular season, to piss the boys off by not having a tag......hopefully I see a big guy while I am North.:D

Our group hunts WMU 47, Port Loring area, lets all chime in and state where you are hunting, and please follow up with some pics of success....or even just the general area that you hunt, or some good group pics of your hunting companions

Heading to WMU #10 just north of Bergland, and staying at Redwing Lodge on Friday the 6th for a week. Have been there for a little over 10 years now.
Great people and good hunting.

Ricky

Used to hunt in 60A before I came up here to school. Lots more deer where we hunt now, west of Kenora, but I do miss running hounds in the hardwoods.

Used to hunt ducks on the Little Mississippi as a lad too. Good luck to you guys around MaCarthur Mills.

Here are a couple of shots from the first year we hunted out there. Headed back in about two weeks.

Heading to 82A, outside of Collingwood with doe tag in hand for Nov 2 open. Going with my father-in-law and it's my first time. He's a farmer with lots of land out there and years experience to show my noob ass what to do. I'm so excited about it, I feel like I'm 8 again. Good luck everyone.

Nice pic, no grey. ;)

Thanks guys,

My dad hunts up there with us now. Have to give all the deer hunting know-how credit to him. That pic was taken our first year out there. We took a lot of horseshoes with us. Might slip a couple more in my duffel this year. Best of luck out there.
