Ontario Deer Camp Thread

Heading up to 63A, North of Bon Echo on Saturday.... its my first hunt, a couple of the ole timers are gonna show me the ropes.... We have a couple of antlerless tags to boot. Looking forward to some good eating in the coming weeks!

As in previous years planned on 46 with friends & family the first week and then in 49 the second week with just family....looks like a change in plans with health issue in the family and may not get out at all. Good luck to all.

I hunt 62, are you north or south of hwy # 7 ? Just curious.

62 for us as well, south of 7. Hopefully this guy will show up during the day.

Our group hunts between McArthurs Mills and Boulter, just east of Bancroft in WMU 57. Looking forward to another great year... I'm going for 11 days this year, also longer than normal.

My family used to have a camp around bancroft.
Interesting place when you looked around a bit, old locals and lots of old worn out hippies.

Real nice country. Specially this time of year.

good luck...

Da Second Week Of Deer Camp - song

It's the second week of deer camp
I got a swollen head
I'm lying with the dustballs
Underneath the bed
An icy breeze is blowing
Into the tongue and groove
My pants are frozen to the floor
And I'm too sick to move
I didn't drink so many
Just thirty cans of beer
It musta been that last shot
That put me under here

CHORUS
It's the second week of deer camp
And all the guys are here
We drink, play cards and shoot the bull
But never shoot no deer
The only time we leave the camp
Is when we go for beer
The second week of deer camp
Is the greatest time of year

I remember playing poker
That weasel must've won
He's wearing my new swampers
And sleeping with my gun
He's snoring like a chainsaw
The camp smells like a dump
Someone's dirty underwear
Is hanging on the pump

Mickey's in the woodbox
Weener's on the stove
His flannel shirt is smoking (sniff)
I wonder if he knows (YEOW!)

CHORUS

Beadle's crawling through the door
I think he got frostbite
He passed out in the outhouse
And he's been there since last night
Goofus stumbled through the door
He says he got a buck
He was coming from the wayside
And hit it with his truck
Musty cracked a beer and said
It's time to celebrate
Goofus got the first buck
Since 1968

CHORUS

Looking at these pics was reminded me of my youth (I grew up in eastern Ont). I had forgot how"orange" everyone dresses for deer hunting in the east. We don't do the orange thing nearly as much here in BC, many guys wear none at all.
