The top portion is your license. DOnt lose it or no party hunting for you.
First let me say I am a proud Northern Ontario hunter and fisherman and I buy all of my tags every year ( bear, deer, moose and even turkey in a different WMU).
I just received my antlerless deer tag and read on the back of the envelope the following; "All fishing and hunting licence revenue is now earmarked for fish and wildlife management and conservation. Your involvement makes a difference." Reading this made me feel good, like I was somehow helping. I turned the letter over and noticed the postage stamp, it was mailed from Zipcode 37214! A quick search showed this is Nashville, Tennessee!
I'm more than a little peeved to know my tag fees are going to pay for jobs south of the border. Didn't a lot of MNR staff get laid off recently, was it due to outsourcing?
Does anyone else think this is odd and not even right, or is it just me?![]()
You are not alone talk to your mpp. I did
Me too. I would rather less money went into conservation in order to have the tags printed at least in Canada, but preferably Ontario.
My MPP is in total agreement.
back to the old way, stickers and keep jobs safe in Canada, just waiting for the day they will be done by some Mexicans for pennies on the dollar
Yep all outsourced to the USA. It's a sad day.
Maybe you'll feel different when your job is outsourced to some cheap labour force.
1) The contract went out for tender.
2) Companies submitted bid. They must also meet the qualifications for the bid to be considered.
3) US company won.
That's how it works. Don't ##### about wasting tax dollars and then say we should pay more to keep jobs in Ontario. You can't have it both ways.
Can anyone show me a positive point of our new system ?
Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak is slamming the governing Liberals for awarding bonuses to management as the province works to negotiate a wage freeze with its public sector employees.
Premier Dalton McGuinty is also facing criticism from union leaders and the NDP after it was revealed that nearly all eligible government managers received bonuses in 2011.
The Canadian Press reported that the bonuses cost the government $35.6 million. The government is working to trim a $15-billion deficit.
The new system does not improve or simplify license purchasing and imo proves that the liberal mindset does not value our natural resources in Ontario.
Limiting where and when people can purchase licenses takes much needed revenue away and makes it more difficult for young people to stay active in hunting and fishing.

You have to limit when because of the draws. There are only a set number of tags and to make the draw you have to have a cut off point.
I understand deadlines for big game are necessary.
I am referring to the large reduction in retail outlets for licenses. Example: You cannot purchase a fishing license (or any license) in the town of goderich anywhere accept a service Ontario office which is only open Mon-Fri 9-5.
I am not impressed with the new set up.
I really hate that you have to keep the top portion of the tag as your licence. What is the point of the outdoors card if they don't have the sticker licence to go on the back of it.
I agree. Also, isn't it wasteful to have outdoor cards expire after 3 years especially now that you don't stick anything on it? I understand the MNR wants the money for a new card but think of the cost of producing and shipping new cards as well as the administration changes. It seems very inefficient.

Making it an "online" system would presumably make it easier for young hunters to get into the sport, as they are the most tech savvy of the population.
I especially like the fact that the online system won't accept my postal code for the controlled hunt draw. Which makes it entirely useless to me.
