Ontario Moose Tags,Who Got Em !!!! I Did

Any excuse to buy a rifle is a solid reason IMO. :D

We all know the 6.5X55 has taken many a bull, but, I've been there, and it does 'feel' small. This from a guy (me) who's taken bull moose with the 30-30.

If you want a rifle, you can fool your wife, but not these guys, they know it's the fever.

Re Moose tag

I finally got a Moose tag;
I'm going to be 65 years old this year.
It is probably the last one I will get with this stupid lottery.
I'm happy but i haven't had a tag in 15-20 years so some of the exitment is gone.
I lived for moose hunting.
This lottery has to change.
If you pay an outfitter or you are an Indian, you hunt every year for what you want.
If you are poor and on a pension an are white, you wait for 15 years to be able to hunt what you want.
This is what a free country is.
No biases or prejudices here!!!!!!!
I speak from the heart!!!!

Not us

We have been hunting the same area for 30 years .there is 14 in our group and this year they droped the guarentee and now there are 14 hunters that paid there money and no tags. There are so many moose were we are that you would think a herd of cows were eating in out 1500 ac. bush.
Tree huggers are winning in Ontario.

That was my experience before I quit moose hunting the north.
It appeared the more moose in an area the harder to get tags

It's also apparent they want you to hunt in groups of 12-15+
A group of 6 guys has zero chance at ever getting a tag in some areas.

It's getting to be an elite-ist sport.
If your a rich lawyer..etc from TO, you pick up a phone, buy a tag from a outfitter by simply renting a cabin($$) from them for a week, you don't have to stay there or apply in the lottery!

Youve still got 14 calf tags vaild for anywhere (with minor exceptions) in ON.

We've had 6 adult tags in WMU49 (Parry Sound) in the past three seasons. Thats 2.5 hours from Toronto.

As a first time applicant to the draw we got a cow tag and have the option on August 15 of purchasing a bull tag in the same WMU.
Believe me when I say our WMU is closer to Hudson Bay than Thunder Bay, on the last road or more appropriately the most northerly road in Ontario.
So the tags are there. They're just half a country away.
Talking with my partner today, we're both having second thoughts and may opt to hunt a calf closer to home.

We got a bull tag for the same area.... lol if you see a yellow school bus with a trailer in the middle of the bush in September... come say hi :p lol

Nadda, nothing ,zip, zilch.McScuinty yanks me for another hundred bucks. This pay up front has got to go!Three years ago my neighbor and wife both got tags, this year my neighbor and wife both got tags, luck of the draw I guess. The MNR's policy of making it fair for all(and a little more fair for others)sucks. Then they wonder why so many moose are shot illegally.

I sympathize but congratulations!

Look on the bright side!

I got a bull tag in 47 back in '06 but haven't had a tag since.

We used to do a group hunt (about 6 of us) but this tear everyone put in separately, I guess I'll know more next weekend when we're all up at the camp.

Congrats to those lucky enough to get tags. If you want an experienced tag-along let me know....

Hint: I'll even help with the butchering!

:)
