Someone was telling me OPP are using reloads? Wouldn't that be a HUGE liability? Puts cops on the line, and whom ever they need to shoot.

I haven't heard any police force using reloads, RCMP, HRP, town police.

For practice maybe.
A couple years ago, I was shooting with a police officer friend who was using reloads she got from a fellow competitor.
Her slide locked up on fte and we had a heck of a time getting it unstuck.
Good thing they dont use reloads for "work".

I remember seeing something a while ago about the centaure 9mm ammo tradex has was mainly used for LE and/or military. That only the over stock after filling the big orders for government contracts was sold to civilians. This could be the stuff they were talking about?

Reason I asked. Someone was posting ammo for sale, "reloaded" by a person that reloads for the OPP ( but had no proof ) when I messaged him. One for selling reloaded ammo w/o a license with out any proof. He was saying OPP used reloads because his father was OPP for 30 years and going on about budget cuts.

Don't the they use ammo we can't buy?

Must be talking about the Black Talon the ones that got the rep( cop killers )

I used to know a fella that had a reloading business years ago, he supplied the Toronto police back then. I assume it was for practice ammo.

Back in revolver days, some departments certainly loaded/reloaded their own practice ammunition, and if enough brass was ordered it could be custom head-stamped.
Calgary was also loading/reloading for .40 S&W after the transition to Glocks in the early 1990s, but I don't know if that is still the case.

I'd trust my reloads wayyy before any factory ammo. I'm more reliable than a machine but in the real world they don't have a choice, they use factory.

When they would practice at our range sometimes it would sound like a war zone when they all started shooting. They would go through piles of ammo some days.

There are reloading companies that sell practice ammo to police and military. Or so they tell me.

practice use reloads. service use factory and it is changed out annually for new stuff

My service and most others use reloads for all our pistol training and practice. On annual qualification we shoot of the old factory rounds which are carried and are replaced with new factory rounds. No service uses reloads for active duty.

The guy didn't specify it was for practice. Assumed was for Duty.

Isn't the first rule of reloading to not to ever use someone else's reloads?
