Ontario police using reloads?

It's been more than 3 years since they started using frangible, however that was only used when shooting steel targets (which have since been taken out of service) And not when shooting paper. Primarily due to expense and lack of accuracy past about 25m. Currently OPP uses Ranger SXT for duty ammo and Winchester FMJ ball amm of the same weight for training. Since they buy through the Ontario Police co-op at a price that woukd make you sick if you heard it, i dont see that changing after they change to Glocks in 9x19. Our local service shoots .45 M&P for their tactical team and they pay the same for FMJ and SXT...

Three years ago was the first time they used it, at annual re-qualification, where I worked. And we shot frangible at paper. This was with the Chatham IST in West Region.

I have been retired for two years so I do not know what they are doing now.

Roger that - it first showed here in the north 5 or 6 years ago, for both .223 and ,40 as well as frangible buckshot...

Calgary did shoot reloads for practice and/or reloaded their own for practice. They had a fully automated Dillon for reloading 40 s&w at one point but either quit using it or the guy the knew how to use it retired. They offered it to me but it wasn't convertible to rifle so I don't know if they sold it or it's still there.
They were buying practice ammo from the dude in Black Diamond at that point.

Reason I asked. Someone was posting ammo for sale, "reloaded" by a person that reloads for the OPP ( but had no proof ) when I messaged him. One for selling reloaded ammo w/o a license with out any proof. He was saying OPP used reloads because his father was OPP for 30 years and going on about budget cuts.

Must be talking about the Black Talon the ones that got the rep( cop killers )

Surgeons didn't like it either. Sharp fragments could, and often did, pierce their gloves, and themseles, while operating. Not fun stuff when the patient was HIV positive.
