Another option is during the spring season if you time it right and find a good location, they are pretty easy to stalk-and-spot if you can find cleared areas where they are eating green vegetation to get their digestive systems going.

What unit are you hunting in? From the map it looks like most of Ontario is included.

Only the yellow or orange indicates a spring bear hunt.... The green stuff is fall only..... My camp spans 62 and 63..... No dice....

The green areas are in the expanded proposal. Meaning if it passes ( it should) they will have a spring season.

They've announced that any wmu with a fall season gets a spring season. So all that green is good to go but they haven't released a season date yet. Which sucks because I need to book the time off work soon

You can pretty much count on May 1st to June 15th... last week of May is always good.

The historical opener was April 15th, but this spring pilot of the past couple years had a May 1st opener.

Get so many bears wreaking havok here in the yard every year I don't need to hunt them. Keeps freezer full just taking the ones that won't leave. Glad they are finally opening up the spring hunt again. So many bears here in NW Ontario you see 10 of them to 1 of any other big game animal. They have been a pain destroying minnow traps and such on the minnow block as well.

Probably take my Savage 99R in 358 Win if I want a scope, Savage 1899C in 38-55 if I don't.

House is in 11A, can throw rocks from door into 9B.

Reading the regulation it states that all WMU's that currently have a fall season so I think i'm good.
