Ontario spring turkey 2016

Honestly, I'm only going to the trouble because of the Green Egg thing. I'd have skinned the breasts out for simplicity. Legs aren't bad to pluck and wings are the worst.

Like I said..... Do it once....... You will get applause at the kitchen table and it's a good way to have a small family gathering and feed everyone..... And then you can re-evaluate..... I would rather shoot, clean and skin a deer than pluck a turkey.......

Same here. My uncle taught me how to process a deer. I really enjoy doing it.

Looking forward to your results..... A whole plucked and gutted turkey can be an epic meal...... It's up to you whether or not it is worth the work..... But, if you try it once, at least you can make an educated decision......

No birds this morning but had a coyote sneak in behind me and he didn't know I was there until it was too late. Hit him 3 times with the 3" #5's as he tried to scoot and he was down. He was less than 15 yards away when I fired, pretty exciting stuff!

Good stuff..... Bonus kills are always fun.....

Went out today for the second time hoping to close the deal on this season by filling my second tag. Total heartbreak! I didnt see or hear a single thing all day. At noon, I decided to call it quits and took down my decoys and packed up all my stuff. I was just about to walk out my blind when I started practicing my mouth call and sure enough I got a gobble. A tom made his way onto the property from the opposite end. Great! I was all packed and ready to leave. I loaded up the gun again and just sat down where I stood since my chair was packed as well. It took about 10 mins but I managed to call him to 20-25 yards and he strutted and gobbled the whole way. He stopped close to where I missed the jake on opening day. Anyway, I didnt feel confident taking the shot due to a few obstructions in the shooting land. I just needed him to take a couple more steps to get a truly ethical shot off, but he just stood there for ten mins. Since my decoys werent out, he knew something was up with the calls that brought him in and eventually slowly backed out exactly how he came in. Although he wasnt as big as my opening day bird, he was likely a 22-23lbs and far more impressive then my opening day Tom. He lives to see another day and my season continues...

Finally got out for my first hunt this am. I spooked an earlier Tom that was peeking in the back window of my blind on the edge of a field to a bush full of gobblers. This nice bird came too close to the field edge for a look at my deeks. He weighed 22.5lbs, 10" beard and had 1" spurs. Maybe my most handsome bird in the feather department. He took 2/1/4/ oz of Kent #4 to the neck at around 20 yards from the xtrema 2 with a jellyhead choke. I think I almost missed as not very many pellets found in the bird. Pic of me and my butchering partner and soon to be hunter daughter.

That's a beast! I got a 20lb Jake this morning. 3 inch beard with micro Spurs lol. It was my first time ever hunting my brother in-law took me out.mwe got busted a few times yesterday morning, but were able to call in 3 hens and a jake. We saw a crap load.

The better half and I got out for the first time this year yesterday and managed to get a double! These guys came in hell bent on mischief and ruining our tom decoy's day!
