Ontario Transfer Wait Times?

I had one pending from the 26th Sept, I called today to check, they said all is in order and with cfo and presto within an hour it’s approved. This is so hit and miss.

I bought a handgun online from QC and and transfer was submitted on June 17th. It was approved on July 17th.

It was my first purchase not sure if it matters.

i did private purchase last week and it approved in 2 days .i just call them to ask if approved and they said it did and i should receive transfer letter in mail but i ask them to email and they did right away to me and seller .

from Ontario

Phoned the CFO today. Very pleasant lady completed the transfer over the phone (14 days - 1 day for the holiday = 13 days). I win. If you get yours today you win since yours was initiated a day after mine. I think I cheated a little by phoning though.
I called the vendor today and still no word . I might call me back and get the transfer number I just hate breaking balls by calling . So clearly u win

The real question is, why do we put up with this nonsense in the first place? Another one is, what does CFO approval add to the process other than bureaucracy? Absolute BS if you want my opinion!

Who exactly can we complain to? There is no sympathetic ear anywhere that will/can do anything about the situation. I'm almost convinced that as more of these people retire, there will literally be nobody left to do transfers, and the government will be just fine with that.

With Christmas getting closer I think that it's probably best now to wait until the New Year. The CFOs will probably get jammed with more and more transfer requests.

Well when are they not jammed lol? I would have though now would be faster . Seems like summer is the buying season, no?

Just bought a gun; asked the dealer, he was waiting himself 3 weeks + 3 days last Friday for transfer on revolver he bought from the store where he worked.

So... 3-4 weeks.

Both my wife and brother bought from a forum sponsor store over 3 weeks ago and are still waiting. My wife called the CFO on Friday and the lady on the phone was shocked it was still processing. Apparently they are "backed up"! My average before now was under 10 days.

I'm on the 5th week for a pistol transfer, but didn't learn a lesson so while asking if my transfer came in, bought a new AR (1 week and counting on that)

I bought a car this month. That transfer took five minutes.

I also bought a handgun. That took five weeks.

Can someone explain that to me?
