Okay Service Rifle lovers & M14 lovers !

We at Operational Shooting Assoc. have arranged a practice for Saturday 18 Aug at the w ww.Milcun.com facility's 600m range. Actually we'll be playing around the 300m and 200m and closer mounds.

We have a Fun Match happening in the morning and afternoon. All of these matches are derivatives (really a lot more fun than you know) of the Stage 1 Service Rifle matches 1 through 8 (these are variations on them, not the exact matches 1 to 8). Boy are we gonna have fun. Of course I'm not going to give you  the specific match details. You are not allowed to know them before the match and that's half the fun.

All I can tell you is that ONE of them matches is called "Escape from Azkrakistan".

Important details

Registration is at 0800 at the Milcun Cabin
First round downrange is 0900 (competition, er fun match, I mean begins)
Likely have 4 matches in the AM, and 5 matches in the afternoon
Combined Aggregate of morning and afternoon matches is the winner :dancingbanana: Why does TimK always win? I gotta unseat him this year.
Ranges : I mentioned inside 300m and outside 100m
Magazines: bring lots , M14's at least 2 of them....
Ammo: I'm bringing about 200 rds of 5.56mm
NO Bipods ! Too bad, so sad.... :(

AM (morning matches) are for the M14's specifically, AR's are shooting for honours.

PM (afternoon matches) are really geared toward the AR's, M14 owners who are AR-less, someone will lend you an AR boomstick, just bring up some Winchester White Box or Remington UMC, AVOID bringing up steel cased Norinco to shoot out of someone else's AR barrel ? NOT !!

Trust me...You want to come to these matches to test out your skills in stringent conditions and contexts we will provide you. ;) Yes, yours truly will be shooting alongside of you even with my 2 hip replacements during the rundowns!! :runaway:

I will be adding to this detailed list as TimK advises me. You guys know what kinda fun stuff we put on at the Operational Shooting Assoc events...

Registration forms: bgotuaco@sympatico.ca Just email me and I'll reply with one. ;)

Registration fee: $ 25 for a Guest fee that day of 18 Aug 2007, Saturday. I'll take your EMT'ed $ 25 and form..

Trust me, some of you who know me can guess what I'm gonna make you do to screw up your "Escape from Azkrakistan Match"

Those of you who preregister (just like the OSA M14 Clinic), I will email you directions as we get closer.

Match hints: Ask CGNutters sevey and Rifledude. They will give you ideas on what is in store for your shooting hillarity. (sp?)

Hungry here: Only on the condition that you show up and have a sense of humour, to put up with my stale jokes , that is.... :) Yeah, bring it on. Stripper clips, eh? Go and ask Sevey or Rifledude how much of riot our FUN matches can be...

I'm in Hungry. Yes, I can still remember the last fun match you and TimK put on at CFB Borden. It was great. :dancingbanana: Service matches are great fun, but Hungry's fun matches really take the cake. If you want to match wits with the other shooters in challenging matches that are more or less based on service rifle shooting and good fun, you got to come to the OSA fun matches at Milcun. I garantee you won't be disappointed  BTW, bring lots of magazines and ammo because you don't want to run short. There'll be lots of lead going downrange

can I bring an MP buddie of mine his is interested in comp but he wants to start off with shorter ranges. he has a lefty stag

Hungry here: Yes, he can come along to play. Does he at least have a 100m / yd zero for that Stag ? That's all you need. We will be starting at 200 and 300m ranges. Sorry, no time to zero at 100m and then pack up to switch ranges. Now, we can easily toss up a 4 foot and fig 12 for him at 200. That's no sweat. We'll get him zero'ed from there.

and BTW I can always put up with your stale jokes :)

Be there with bells on. (bear bell actually, to ward of the hairy bastages) With my crappy AR180.... Might pick up a M14 by then as well...

Gotta practice my mag changes, gotta practice my mag changes:bangHead:

:D

What 3 Gun Related practice ? On the calendar stickied at the beginning of this forum, I just cut and pasted this:

Aug
18 Practice MilCun
25 – 26 Service 3 Gun Match II MilCun

That's all I know about this coming practice. See y'all after I return from Hawaii and Vegas.

Trying to arrange to attend for the day. Had just too much fun at the M14 clinic with Barney and Tim. :D

Noob questions: I presume any sights are fine on our M14's, doesn't have to be irons? Also, would most of you be using a shooting sling?
Lastly, any recommendations to a civvie noob as to what type of tactical vest would be helpful to carry mags?

Thanks.

EDIT: I have now read the Service Rifle NOOB wannabe questions Stickie. Assume most of this would apply?

I would assume any sights. Nothing past 300. No bipods, let's assume a sling or improvised rest would be acceptable if appropriate. 5/30 on the ground for ARs if shooting prone. Hungry says at least 2 magazines for M-14s, so that doesn't require a vest. For ARs, some use a vest, others use belt pouches. You can even use pockets. Come out, have fun, see what works.

If you haven't been to an OSA shoot yet, and a drive into the wilds of Central Ontario (an hour north of Peterborough) isn't too far, you really should plan on attending the practice/fun shoot on Aug. 18th. You will have a good time, meet good folks, get to use what is probably the best privately owned shooting facilty in Ontario.

Thanks Tiriaq. If I can get "Grandma" to watch the kids for the day, I'll drive over from the cottage that morning. Sounds like a hoot; for all of you watching me anyway.

And again, thank you for helping me get that darn Norinco flash hider off at the M14 clinic!!

cancer: I would say, the Friday of the 17th Aug... That okay for you ? I'm back from Vegas and Hawaii. So now I can unpack and organize all kinds of envelopes with forms and $$ for various clinics and clinic videos , and pratices. Lots to sort out.

TTFN,
Barney

Yee-hah!

That was a blast. A big thank you to Hungry and TimK for running such a fun shoot. Something I definitely would like to do more of. And thanks for being so patient with my 6 year old. The fact that he enjoyed himself despite having to do a lot of waiting means only good things will be communicated to my wife, if you know what I mean. ;)

Now if I can just get my rifle cycling 100%.

Just got in myself... What a riot.. GREAT bunch of guys! :D

Tim, Barney, you both run a pretty clean operation. Glad to have been there today... Despite my hardware issues...

Ummm, anyone got a decent AR15 for sale!?!?! :shotgun:

Looks like I'll be up next weekend as well for the 3 gun, or at least some of it.

Barney, you're a pretty good shooter for a Piccli... ;):D:D

Oh, and all the rest of you swinging dicks were a great bunch to hang with as well. Nice bunch of guys all 'round..

Did ANYONE bring a camera????? LOL

Mil Cun 18 Aug. Yes it was a very good day. Lots of great people. Best way to spend a day learning new ####e. Thanks Tim and Barney. P.S. worth the money watching C-9 Tim shoot an AR-15. ss109 out.

and 2 more thumbs up for the practice day with the OSA. Definitely more fun then the old army matches doing the Shoot to Live stuff. Everyone should make an effort to come to one or more of these matches just to see what you and your kit are capable of. The matches are fun and very challenging.

And lessons learned from Tim are that following the letter of the law is not the same as following the spirit of the law. Your secrets are out now.
