Opinions: ACE stock on 858 Carbine?

Im running a vortex sparc on an NEA handguard with the factory folder, would running an ace inline require me to add a riser to the sparc?

Sorry for delays. Took me a while to get some free time to re-phuckulate my camera.

But pics as promised...

Gary at GP Tactical is going to help me out with an order for a NEIT vs tac release, and I still haven't figured exactly where I want to take my sling set up, but this is mostly there.

This is the 7.5" AKFX stock with a Stormwerkz folding stock adapter. You cant see it in this picture, but the mechanism actually has some comb height adjustability.

If you look at this photo however and muster some imagination, you will realize that the socket head cap screws that connect the stock to the trunnion can be screwed into one of three height settings. EACH of these height settings has some more adjustability to them.

Cowitness is lower 1/3. I have never had a problem accessing sites with a strong cheek weld. But YMMV.

A picture of the mechanism folded up as requested.

Thanks to a trade with Wicked-Police, I picked up a Larue FUG. Great piece of kit. But as it turns out I prefer traditional hold and less weight.

All in, I've found a lot of fondness for the Cz. That's saying something, because I wasn't exactly sold when they first came to the Cdn market. Looks. Hairs on the back of my neck. Snobbery. Whatever.

But after a 1200 rnd torture test in mid winter during 30 degree below stupid temp. freezes, I was sold.

The bottom line is that this is a lightweight, reliable and simple firearm that has become my go to gun. It has a rail system with a powerful white light, a red dot scope and a sturdy folding stock mechanism.

There are less reasons to day to ask 'why'. With all the great upgrades to this solid platform that are not only readily available but made right here in Canada, the big question is now 'why not'?

Thanks for the great pictures; it is the set-up I am looking for.

On the down side I have not yet been able to source the short ACE stock. Brownell's only caries the longer one.

Regards,

sprint with the devil horned bolt carrier are you able to use the charging handel with the stock folded?

Nice set-up there, Sprint.

On a side note, I finally filled in that divot we dug shooting the CSA carbine last winter. It needed a lot of dirt.

At least the ACE stocks are easy to shorten.
- Punch the roll pin and pull the tubes out of the front part of the stock.
- Cut the tubes and plastic cover to length
-Re-install tubes in to the front part.
Then just run a drill through to make new holes for the roll pin.

I had to do this back when they only made the one length stock.

I agree with all that Sprint has brought up.
I picked the set of screw holes that best matched my cheeckweld, screwed them together and never looked back.

Sprint, your comments about being wary of the CZ at first matched my thoughts.
Building it and firing it changed my thoughts about it entirely, and the price of surplus doesn't hurt.

You bet. Thanks for the kind feedback.

I don't want anyone to mistake my exuberance for the Cz platform as brand enthusiasm.

Bottom line is that every time one of us puts together one of these beautiful rifles we are financially supporting a Canadian Firearms designer and manufacturer.

Every time we post photos and generate interest on the public Internet with them, we are helping build build broader market recognition and increasing the chances that they will still be around the next time we want to buy something.

Again. A deep tip of the hat to the NEA folks and all the vendors that have supported marketing their products.

A couple more.

Learning more about my camera than how to keep my thumb out of the flash (just because my wife is a photographer doesn't mean I know SFA about it). This is my way of meeting in the middle to do stuff together.

The ACE stocks are excellent pieces of kit. I've had one on my AK84 for years. This would make for a great mod IMHO

Looking forward to a non restricted CZ rifle build!

Mean looking guns guys. I have a ZAHAL stock on mine with the adjustable cheek riser. It allows me to use my RDS and open sights a little easier, but it is a tad long. The ACE looks great.

Thanks dude.

It can't be overstated how GOOD these stocks feel. The milled delrin makes the weight of the stock virtually negligible, while still giving it that very substantial feel.

SPRINT: I have an ACE stock enroute now (not the entry length so I will trim it a bit) and I have the Stormwerkz in-line adapter and folding mechanism also on the way. My question is this: the stock has no buffer tube with it so I need one. Do you know if the stock adapter accepts standard or mil-spec tubes??? They both have the same thread pitch but the mil spec is a slightly larger diameter. I sent Stormwerkz an e-mail but no answer yet.

Thanks again for the info and pics on this thread BTW. They have been helpful for sure.

Boomer,
Do you have the AKFX or ARFX enroute? The AKFX is the one that bolts to the stock folding mechanism like you see in the pics in this thread.
Regarding Ar type stock adapters -They accept both mil-spec and commercial tubes, just like an AR receiver, you can use either as the threads are cut the same on the internal threads.
