So I have decided to breathe new life into my 20 year old 10/22. I'm interested in making it an accurate shooter without breaking the bank (too bad). This will mostly be a gun shot from a bench but it may find it's way in the field once in a blue moon.

Currently the rifle is stock except I have changed some trigger parts to make it nice target trigger. Now I'm considering the following, one reason being availability:

Revolution Trailblazer stock in brown (w/blued bbl) or grey (w/stainless bbl) (Bits of Pieces)
Green Mountain .920 fluted barrel (blued or stainless) (Bits of Pieces)
Dlask Dar22 receiver with picatinny rail (Dlask)

- I chose the stock because I don't want anything too wild looking (no thumbhole or skeletonized stocks);
- Really looking for input on barrel choice. I think a Lilja is out of my budget but I would like to get fairly high quality;
- The receiver is an upgrade just because my current receiver is a bit ugly from 20 years of plinking in the bush.

I would be interested in any opinions, especially from anyone who has experience with .920 barrels.
 
With a new receiver you will technically have a new gun, so just build a new rifle with a new receiver and new parts of your choice and you'll have two guns instead of one.
 
Green Mountain barrels are hit-and-miss. For the same price, Kidd barrels are a lot more consistent performers and Fabsports brings them in.

Also, fixed rail is a mistake IMO. It handicaps you if you ever want to shoot the gun at long range because it has zero cant.

It means that the base has some slope built into it so that the scope is zeroing closer to the bottom of its range instead of in the center. It lets you use more of the scope's range. With an canted base, you can dial into longer distances, while still being able to zero at 25 or 50 yards. With the zero cant base, depending on the scope, you may not be able to get much past 100 yards.

You may decide you want to try that at some point. Realistically, the integrated rail receiver isn't going to give you any measurable gain in accuracy over their flat top receiver. Both are plenty stuff for the mighty .22LR round.
 
With many scopes, they still don't give you enough cant. A lot of guys are using them in conjunction with a 20-25 MOA base to get enough elevation. It really depends on the scope...
 
I am doing some thing similar I am guetting a McGewen heavy barel 20 inch and a buoyd tacticool and swaping the scope on mine... can't wait to see it completed. all my part are in the mail some where!

A Hogue over molded stock and that Dlask 16.5" barrel from Fabsport should be the ticket.

What are the rules when dropping in a 16.5 replacement barrel? I am assuming that it's still non-restricted. What about the 12.5"? Is that going restricted or am I still within the overall length limit or a non-restricted? It would be way cooler to go 12.5" if I have a choice. I'd love to take that hunting.

I have an 11.5" on mine and I'm still way over the non restricted limit. So your good to go on a 12"!
 
I did some measuring on mine after seeing the 6" Kidd barrel. With a 6" it would be too short, I beleive somewhere around 8" was necessary for OAL limit. Thats with a factory wood sporter stock. You will have to cut the stock down to go that short.
 
I wonder at what point accuracy starts to suffer with a short barrel. I was thinking 16" would be as short as I'd want to go but I have no real basis for that thought...
 
This was shot on Sunday with a 16" Tactical Solution barrel, which isn't a great barrel as far as accuracy goes:
