Opinions on the CZ 550 fs?

my 550 medium in 9.3x62 has the 5 round internal mag with steel floorplate and follower.

My 550 FS 9.3 also holds 5 in the magazine, but I usually only carry it with one or two down.
One feature I really like is the absolute flawless feeding of all cartridges with any bullet shape be they blunt, roundnose, or pointy..
A lot of my hunting is done in timber around lakes and a few clearcuts and a short rifle is very handy to pack.
One load I have with a 270 gr. Speer seems to shoot quite flat and for that reason I would be tempted to take it Sheep hunting.
With a 1.5X5 Leupold in Warne QD rings it weighs exactly 8.5 lbs. and I don't think I'd want it any lighter.... especially when shooting 286 gr. loads....

Who else makes a full stocked bolt action that would be worth consideration? I am just in love with the sako 85 bavarian carbine but would never lay down that kind of cash for a hunting rifle.I can but i won't.Be scared to take it in the woods.

As for another brand, I once saw a Remington Custom Mannlicher Model 7.
Agreed about the Sako Bavarian-the beautiful rosewood tip and fore end ridge are just asking to be damaged when outdoors. FYI even though the CZ FS has a low grade walnut stock, something magical happens when you strip them and apply an oil finish.

Here's a few options to look at..............

And I just picked up a BSA full stock in 243 but I have yet to lay hands on it, and last fall I bought a Sako AV 308 full stock but have no photos, sorry.

Be nice, I'm very emotionally fragile right now, being so far from my guns for so long.........:( But my boy lets me play with his a little..........still it's not the same, he doesn't like me taking his barrels off and such..........

Had one in 308. Very accurate, but didn't like the fact that it had a full-length action. It felt too "big" for a short action cartridge.
Accurate shooter, though!

N68, it is my understanding that the mod 7 FS is strictly a Rem Custom shop article, never has been a production run of them.

OP, there was a Ruger 308 RSI on the EE just last week if that would be of any interest to you..........mine shoots sub MOA with 150 gnrs and 4064. The Rugers are a sweet little rifle for a mid priced rifle and all of mine have shot very well. Well, except the 250 Sav, but I'm still working on that one.........
