Optics for service rifle?

I currently own the ELCAN SpecterDr 1.5-6x latest generation.

Hopefully someone who has actually used both could weigh in here...
In Comparing the ELCAN SpecterDr 1.5-6x vs the 1-4x, which would be better for SR matches overall?

Has anyone else here heard about the new product from Sightron, in their SIII line?

SIII1-7x24IR4A

Looks pretty good. I love the Sightron on my Silhouette rifle.

"Typically" I think SR shooters are using something will less power. Big mag scopes tend to be BIG. SR is not bench rest shooting, you need to be able to move and then shoot from various positions.

Sounds like a good option for a bull barreled precision rig.

Of course there was recent thread about that real men carried heavy ARs and anything less than 12 lbs was sissyfied

What do you think of the EOtech with 3x Magnifier set-up?

Prefer adjustable turrets to dial in windage and elevation. That is me though. Hold over from Precision / F-class type shooting I guess.

I've never been big on the whole red-dot sight thing really. Don't like depending on batteries. My AR scopes happen to have illumination, but they also have conventional black reticules. I rarely use the illumination and if the battery dies, I still have an aiming point. Don't even need a BUIS which is good because my mount chews up so much rail space I got nothing left for a BUIS.

I also like to adjust magnification by turning a power ring, not taking off or side flipping a magnifier. Seems like it would un-balance the rifle and get in the way of charging handle. Don't know, never tried one.

Besides, you have an Elcan 1-6x. Why would you want to an EOTec?

Yah I was just curious as to see if anyone would actually be using that set-up.
I also have the EoTech XPS2-0 that I really like for short range but after 80m-100m that would be really pushing it for my eyes!

You need a setup with at least 3-4x and adjustable, repeatable elevation knobs preferable in 1/2 moa increments or better. You can probably get away holding off for wind to begin with however if you want to be truly competitive at a high level, having adjustable windage is a big bonus and a must.

Did you google it? I'm talking about a 1-7x, x 24mm here with a 30mm tube, illuminated dot, and low profile turrets. I guess that wasn't clear from the model number I posted.

Looks pretty awesome to me, and it's my understanding Hirsch Precision will be getting them this summer for around $1000. It's entirely possible this could be the best civi alternative to the new Leupold 1.1-8, especially at 1/3 the price, and proper warranty here in Canada.

I'm not sure how the 7X magnification is going to do, but, Sightron is kinda kicking Leupold's butt these days, especially on price.

I got to look at a CQBSS today (TMR version) at a shop in Michigan, and I'm honestly not impressed with it. It's a nice scope, but not worth the $4k price tag. It didn't work very well on 1.1 with both eyes open. For that price, it should be a true 1x.

That Sightron is interesting, so is the new Bushnell 1-6.5x.

IMO the reticle could be far better.

My bad, I totally misread the discription. I thought it was 7-24 power. Doh!
