Options for 30 cal 20" stainless with good factory sights?

Haha, feeling a little ornery today H?
Nope, feeling great, but just telling it like it is.
In my opinion, a 308 Winchester with a barrel that short, or even a little longer is about the dumbest rifle I ever want to look at.

I wouldn't get hung up on factory irons, since there are so many fine aftermarket iron sights out there, I'm thinking particularly of NECG and XS. The Howa Alpine is a lightweight .308, with a 20" barrel, I'd want no shorter, and although it comes san sights, there are plenty to choose from after market. CZ's 557 Ranger rifle, another 20" .308, this one weighs 7.25 pounds, not only comes with factory irons, but also a Picatinny rail, a 10 round magazine, and is a push feed bolt action, which is something of a transition for CZ. If you prefer a lightweight .30/06 to a .308, you need look no further than the 5.4 pound Kimber Ascent, again sans irons, but as I said, that shouldn't be a deal breaker.

Having had an older Remington Model Seven .308 with a factory 18.5" barrel, I think I sympathize with your opinion. Could you elaborate? My take was that the Seven barked too loud and slapped me too hard for a .308. For me, a 22 inch barrel seems about right.

That be a cool little rifle and a lot easier to look at. The choice between the hinged floorplate or detach mag is a nice option.

Who has these in Canada?

Short bbl rifles are OK, but everything else needs to be proportional to the short bbl. Long forends with short bbls look stoopid.

Drop down mags, muzzle brakes, weirdly fitted recoil pads and large scopes don't help either.

Looks like North Pro Sports, Hinterland Outfitters, and Cabela's.

Oh, and long forends and short barrels look alright when the forend extends to the muzzle, but I know what you meant.

Great pricing and selection at Hinterland! I've not seen that site before.

Well Brad and GMC403, you guys got me.

Just picked it up this morning. I like it, fits good and feels handy as all he'll. One thing I was surprised by, the trigger guard and mag well are plastic! I figured Ruger of all companies would have gone with metal?

Nice rig!.... looking forward to the range report.....

To each their own.... you guys probably think a rem 600 looks okay and I wouldn't let one within 100 yards of my gun cabinet.....
