This is what I use and it's a solid optic. I don't like red dots due to an astigmatism so this is the next best choice on a budget.
Will it co-witness lower 1/3 with an A2 front sight post?

What is wrong with iron sights? I would trust my life to them
See All open sight might be worth looking into.

Nothing at all, I just like playing with toys that I can (almost) afford.
New question:
I'm looking at a mount that is advertised to fit "Aimpoint T1, T2, H1, H2 or clones"
Which of these optics fit that description too?
Having never owned an Aimpoint I'm not sure what's different about them but assume it's not picatinny or weaver.
Thanks again everyone.

I get your point, but that's the nature of a free and open forum. If the OP doesn't want to spend that kind of money on an optic that's his prerogative but it never hurts to consider other "out of budget" options, regardless of how out of budget it may be.
Just like suggesting he get an aimpoint and forget about battery related worries. It's not what he initially asked for, but from the perspective of those who may know more, it's something we'd strongly recommend considering.
Besides, you should pretty much put a spectre on everything you own anyways.
I always figured that they were made that way due to technology limitations of the day, and once Aimpoint and other similar sights came along were made obsolete--I'm surprised they're still made. I've sort-of simulated one by using an Aimpoint with the front lens cap on and I can't make it work. I'm very strongly right-eye dominant and can't get "superimpose both eyes" sighting methods (like the ACOG's Binden Aiming Concept) to work correctly. You bet!! Haven't seen them since the 80's. I like the concept, but have never tried one--do they work well I wonder?

Armson OEG and they will ship to Canada if you order direct.
You need 2 eyes to use this sight.
Fiber optic illumination... You can get tritium so it works in the dark.
