Happy new year to all of my CQB shooters! I have gotten some info from ORA HQ about some upcoming activities which has been sent to anyone on our mailing list via email.
We also have some CQB items to address for 2019.

If you are not on the mailing list you are missing out, sign up

I'm also looking for feedback on the current rule book, and the big question is
is 2019 the year of the optics pistol?

***UPDATES***
Here's what changes in 2019
-Pistol Optics will be allowed
-Pistol Caliber carbines will be allowed

And what stays the same
-everyone shoots in the same class
-awards by lewis class system

Take care,
Andrew

Dates Update!

We finally have confirmed dates for CQB at CFB Borden!

This year's match fee is $30. I believe the ORA guest fee is $35.
Cash will not be accepted at the range.
Match payment is due 1 week prior to the match. Refunds (less EMT fee) will be given up to 8 days before the match date.#
There were cases last year where people shot a match but did not pay, they are no longer welcome at CQB.# If you are not registered and marked paid the match staff will ask you to leave the range.#

Clinic date is to be determined as the dates I had requested were not approved in time.

CQBm1 13 April Bay 2
CQBm2 11 May Bay 3
CQBm3 8 June Bay 4
CQBm4 6 July Bay 4
CQBm5 10 Aug Bay 4
CQBm6 14 Sep Bay 4#- Championship match & BBQ.#
CQBm7 5 Oct Bay 4
CQBm8 2 Nov Bay 4

I expect the cost for BBQ lunch at Match 6 will be about $30 per person.#

Looking forward to seeing you all on the range!

Andrew

These are the correct decisions, the last thing we need to more administration by the volunteer score keepers. It's all for fun, not the one dollar medals. Thanks Andrew for getting us all on the same page.

See y'all out on the range this year.

^^ This right here ^^
Note the BOLD

Sometimes I like to shoot irons just to challenge myself.
Looking forward to a great season

Do I need an ora membership to participate in these events? I am going to take the tactical teacher course in may, I'm just wondering if I can sign up for these events as well

I shot CQB this time with a pistol optic. Better accuracy for my old eyes (cataracts getting worse) bu a bit slower for the first shot.

Match 5 pistol was 10 seconds. I thought it got changed to 12 seconds?

You can shoot one ORA event annually as a guest. It's worth the membership. We have 8 weekends with CQB matches Saturday and short range practices on Sunday. 6 weekends with Service matches Saturday and Precision rifle matches Sunday. Plus all the other disciplines.

My next question would be if you need to be an ora to volunteer to help out
no, you don't have to be an ORA member to volunteer. But you're going to be limited on what you can do. We only allow experienced competitors to ARO and RSO. I could certainly use an ammo sherpa, or a target marker:p
