Howdy gunslingers,
Thanks to everyone that made it to CQBm1 today! 26 shooters braved the elements today; -8 and flurries, to shoot the first match of the season. I'm sure Tim was happy to get the snow match that he wanted and a chance to brag about his heated jacket. As always a big thanks to our match staff for keeping things running. Today's match staff was made up of 6 FPO candidates that Tim has been training to help run the range. Big round of applause to these folks. They sounded like pros on the radio and almost have the range commands down, even if they did have to write lines to remember them. Also thanks to our Stats Officer, Victoria, for keeping on top of tallying all the scores. Also to our score running spectators for bringing the scorecards into the stats office.

This year there are some rules changes, for example mag couplers will no longer be allowed. This info will be emailed to competitors and can be found in the match info sheets.

We had a few weather casualties today, please make sure to dress for the weather, and bring spare clothes in case it changes. Its all about the layers. We also found a few firearms that didn't like being run in the cold and caused their owners some heartache. Make sure to use lubricant appropriate for the weather.

Did anyone else notice we were the only users on the ranges today? I know there were only 2 other units in the training area on Saturday too (one was a glider tow plane), and the weather was quite nice Saturday.

See ya'll at Match 2

I was one of those "casualties". I was warm enough, but my rifle would not cycle properly. My ammo had some frozen water droplets on it, so maybe it was not chambering properly. Also, my pistol holster decided to go into 100% retention mode. No idea what was going on with that.

I did manage to take a few pictures before I left.

As one of the ARO staff I want to thank the shooters for your patience with us learning. Was a great day and some good shooting. Big thanks to Tim and Andrew along with Victoria to make the match run smooth. Can't wait to see you guys on the line as a competitor next match.

As always, big thanks to Tim K, Andrew, Victoria and the ARO's for a great time and a safe, well run match. Also thanks to my shooting partner The Duck for the shooting tips and the corny jokes :)

Will upload some pics later...if any turned out...See you all next time.

As another newbie ARO I'd also like to thank the shooters who put up with our learning curve, Tim K for keeping us all going, Victoria and the other runners, and a big special thumbs up to Andrew our MD, who stuck through it all despite being sick as a dog.

For a completely different perspective on how a match is run, you should consider stepping to the other side of the firing line as an ARO.

Big thanks to Tim, and Andrew for taking over Admin.

Huge thanks to the badass mofos stepping up as new AROs.

With the cold and snow, this is even more fun than las Nov, haha. Glad I came. Thanks to all the AROs for keeping everything in order!

Sick as a dog is an understatement, I'd have rather been outside enjoying the snow with everyone rather then sitting in the classroom feeling sorry for my self. oh well next match
