CQBm7 Championship AAR
On Saturday October 3rd, the Ontario Rifle Association held the 2015 CQB Championship at Langemark Range, CFB Borden. The weather can only be described as fall like, with sunny skies, cool temps and brisk wind. Service Conditions for certain as the gusty breezes made changing out targets a bit of an adventure (blowing some targets in transit sideways and taking competitors with them). However the RCO and competitors at the event handled everything smoothly.
The competition portion of the event ran like clockwork. It was an example of how a CQB match should be run. Everybody was on the ball and 5 relays of shooters were finished about as fast as possible. Zero hiccups except for one target set that the wind decided to flatten mid-match. This required a re-shoot for the affected competitor but this went off without a hitch and the rest of us barely noticed the break in pace. This is a credit to our fantastic RCO, Tim K. Without him....CQB events would be somewhat less fantastic.
The Championship event usually brings together a lot of familiar and friendly faces and this was no exception. This includes participants from CQB Valcartier who were out in force, complete with a team flag. (which is awesome by the way) From staff to competitors the ORA CQB Championship continues to be one of the flat out most fun ways to spend a day on the range.
