Ed Boynton suggested that for the first match of the year he will be doing
more of "practice/intro" day to Precision Rifle series of matches.
For non ORA members there is an activity fee in addition to match fee.This activity fee is put towards an ORA membership fee.
If you like it and want to keep coming out,by the fourth visit I beleive ,will pay
your ORA membership!!!!!!!!!
If you don't like it ...at least you will have tried your PR out to 800yrds and learned some LR skills.
Suggest strongly that you already be sighted in and zeroed before coming out
and have some idea of ballistic comeups out to 800yrds.

Hi Pete,
Starts at 8am registration and goes to 3 or 4pm depending on flow.
Depends how far you are driving from regarding room.It tends to be a "long day"
Map for Borden,Mons range can be found on ORA website.
U Need to advise Boynton that you'll be there.I just posted for ORA.

It would be nice if you let Ed know beforehand. Having said that, he won't turn you away if you just show up as long as you have your money in hand and necessary paperwork (PAL). Just don't show up when we're about to fire the first shot ;) Registration starts around 8am. First shot down-range is usually around 9am. AFAIK, the first match of the season is quite relaxed with plenty of time to get your zeroes established :D

I know I enjoyed it immensely my first time out, and the experienced shooters are willing to share their information about this discipline.
 
ALL is possible IP.Just remember you must have your ATT for CFB as reg ATT does not cover .
A number of shooters have shot those matches with 223 bolt guns so why not an AR15.

I know, I got Jim to get it for me, I've had it for a bit now, I have one for private ranges and one for the military ones too
.
I wanna get my AR load working, i'm loading 77gr'ers they should travel 800 ok.

Hello guys and gals
could you supply us newbies with some more information?
cost for non members to try it? or aleast a website link?
I have my .308 rem 700 with a new 6-24 scope i would love you shoot at that distance
 
FWIW
Course of fire----roughly
Match 61 Agony Snaps-10 unknown exposures over 10 minute time frame 300 yrds
Match 52-Walking Man-10 exposures mixed directions 10 minute frame at 400 yards
Match 63-Snaps 10 unknown exposures large and small targets 10 minutes 500 yards
Match 64 -Deliberate 2 sighters 10 on score standing target at 600 yards
Match 65-Deliberate 2 sighters 2 standing targets 10 on score 800 yards

You will be shooting in pairs.1 acts as spotter while 1 shoots and then exchange places.
When not on firing line,you will be working targets in butts for next group.
Not a bad idea to have a rough zero and a good /rough idea of comeup for 3,4,5,6,800yrds.Can get a rough ballistics chart if you know your velocity,bullet etc off of a free site called JBM Ballistics.com
Suggested gear-bipod,rear bag,groundsheet,eye & ear protection,hat,weather appropriate dress(include rain gear and sun gear),lotsa ammo,lotsa water,more water,
lunch,shooting book(notepad,binder,pens,writing shtuff) suncreen(optomistic) bug spray (pesomistic) ,spotting scope if you got one,all gear will need to packed in and carried between firepoints.Try to not get too heavy.

Map to range/base on ORA website.Watch your speed.

Like Gord said, "bring your lunch". This is very important. If you like driving for 30 minutes of lunchtime, then disregard this statement. BTW, if we are running a little late, lunch is about 45 minutes.
