ORA Precision Rifle Match 3 - Sunday 15 Jun 2014 Stats up! Debrief here!

Thanks to Barney and Tony for sharing and John as usual for making the whole thing work as best it could. Lots of fun had and I found out that a 16" AR can be used to hit things at the 1,000. A great group of folks out at PR!

Not only that, but shooting off a the mag and using a 4X Elcan scope with 1MOA clicks and a post reticule that obscures the complete Fig 11 at 1000y. Also shooting 62gr commercial ammo. Well done, I was totally impressed :sniper:

I wonder if Barney will post the match scores and how many of us got "V" at 300, 400, 600 and 1,000 yards? Did he post the scores from previous matches? Match 1 and 2?

If the match director is generous enough to share the range with the other discipline on his match day, it's up to the other discipline to conform to the match timings and to do everything they can to avoid being disruptive to the match. That would include moving cars back behind the 1000 yard line during lunch when they know that 1000 yard shooting is planned for the afternoon.

This thread isn't going to turn into a debate about that. If you don't like it, I suggest you either bring it up at the next general meeting or have your discipline's representative bring it up at the next counsel meeting.

The problem was that we were only told the PR guys had a couple of quick short range matches and would then be moving back to 600. Had we known that a "couple quick short range matches" were going to take until noon, we would have stayed and shot a couple more relays at 300.

Yes, I had to wake up at 0315 and get on the road by 0345 to arrive in Borden at 0855. About $75 for gas to get there to fire 36 shots, then drive a little over 4 hours home.
I know I will be there to bring this up at the next Council Meeting.

Okay, I can handle the results with confidence and do some cutting and pasting from Excel to MS Paint. It's been a warm day on Sunday and nobody suffered from heat stroke. I'm grateful. Actually, I'm grateful for many things:

* my great volunteer Butts O(fficers) who gave us a great series of target presentation, that makes the match
* our RSO JB who kept things on the lighter side
* TonyB for smoothing things the best we could, most professional.
* The help we had from all of you for the target shed cleanup while I was doing stats
* the grace showed by all the shooters after the awards presentation, I am honored. Thank you all.
* the style and good form shown by themarauder who won the DM class (record high for the season), accepted the TShirt sponsored by Jerry T of Mystic Precision, then he kindly gave it to RSO JB when nobody was around to see his courtesy.

I am humbled by all your kindness.... :D

Okay, here is what you've been waiting for:

Next match is on 19 July (and it's a Saturday). PM me here or email me: hungry556 at rogers.com (avoiding spammer software) and we'll arrange things from there. EMT ? Feel free to pay me at the range on Saturday morning.

Amendment: I found Zibi's score card from the 400 mover and adjusted his score. Zibi and SeanD have moved into first place in the Expert Class. I will be contacting them and switching their ever precious ORA medals into GOLD. :D

The newly adjusted score sheet is posted up. Thanks SeanD for alerting me to this typing error.

Cheers and keep helping them noobies out there! ;)

Yup, had a great time at the match despite the small hiccups in timing between groups.

I love getting the chance to fire at those kind of distances with a group of skilled shooters.

Damn that 1000 yard killed me. Wasn't happy at all with my results at 1000. I was not chucking them high enough to make that yardage. But at the end I did last three shots made the paper. So now I know what it could have been if I had the elevation right. So it will haunt me for the next month.

Barney I demand a 1000 repeat lol

We run a good one at 600m. It's called the "Nut Check". In regular military target terms you have a fig 11 and a cut-out fig 14 on the 4 ft screen. You have 20 shots no sighters over 10 minutes. Shoot the fig 11 and get 5 points. Shoot the fig 14 and get 15 for inside the bull and 10 for the rest. We also shot a 600m cold bore for the first match of the day and a 600m movers for the second. Lots you can do that is challenging.

Thanks for putting on a great match despite the challenges of the day. Too bad my little bullets were subsonic at 1000 I want to know how I couldhave done. Can't wait until the next match.

Score sheet has been amended. Sean D alerted me to the change on his partner (Zibi) and their 400 Mover scorecards. I've reviewed the score cards tonight and realized my typing error. No sweat. It's changed now. Go and have a look. Zibi and SeanD are promoted to first place Expert Class. I will re-issue their medals on Saturday July 19th at the next match.

Cheers and keep helping them nooobies out there.

Sean's going to wear that gold medal everywhere! You created a monster! It's not safe to wear that #### while on the lathe! Think of poor Mrs. D going to have that medal dangling in her face;-)

Well done Sean and Zibi!!
